The reality is that police tasked with enforcement for the purpose of pedestrian/cyclist safety are ideologically opposed to that goal and, in cities with liberal elected governments, they are outside civilian control for all practical purposes. (2/2)
Notice how he doesn't even mention parking, despite the containers being located along the curb. Other mayors would talk about the tradeoffs and say, "Look, we know New Yorkers like their parking." Not Mamdani. He keeps the focus where it belongs: on cleaner streets.

This bears repeating. Navigating SNAP benefits in Georgia was practically a full-time job. One of the things about being poor, doing odd jobs and gig work, is that income changes every week, which doubles the amount of paperwork required. The laws are based on annual income, but the rules aren’t.

I don't give a shit how easy that single form is. requiring it = kids starving
cops hate automated enforcement *because* its fair. They conceptualize their role not as punishing rulebreakers but punishing "bad people" (poors and minorities). They dislike red light/speed cameras because they wind up punishing "good people" for doing something they see as essentially harmless

The Odyssey says it's a bit more tangled than that, but not much. It's fascinating that the historical Greeks maintained a mythic tradition like that about themselves.
"Road rage" is what they call murder when a car is involved. It waters down the reality of the violence and the crime. When someone murders a fellow human with a gun, it's rarely called anything other than what it is: murder.

That's just a collection of symbols connected by formal rules. It doesn't have the human insight and soul to be an authentic counterexample.

Sure is great and cool that we're also full steam ahead into an anti-tax revolt.
Don't worry I do like no direct work and a lot of nothing and talking to interesting people and still get very little in the way of creative breakthrough
