Pro-Ukraine, anti-GOP.

Things I and friends have done to calm an angry abusive man from further escalating and killing us or our children: -Smiled -Kept normal schedules in order not to trigger a fight -Appeased with kind acts (cooking, cleaning, favors) -Forced friendly tones and words

Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

"What if we can appeal to MAHA voters with some anti-corporate boilerplate" is the 2020s version of "what if we can appeal to anti-abortion voters by saying that expanding access to contraception will reduce abortions." It's a great strategy if you ignore everything they actually believe

“It’s not a fight between left and right, it’s between top and bottom. Which is why I met with a bunch of plague cultists for the most powerful man in the entire world.”

Once, on The Old Site, I posted that I don't like using the word "neoliberal" because it has so many contradictory definitions. A dozen people immediately bombarded my mentions with some variation of "nuh uh, it means THIS!" ... and none of them agreed with each other.

I was genuinely impressed by this Reuters article. Impressed of the way it's put all together. The visuals are so powerful that they say more than paragraphs of text ever could. You don't need dramatic words when the reality is already this devastating. www.reuters.com/graphics/UKR...

A lot of the work to keep society going is grinding thankless bullshit. Capitalism's plan for getting it done is to create a permanent underclass which must do it or starve. Communism's plan was to create a permanent underclass which must do it or get shot.

there's a pretty good tweet that's something like "people think that under communism they'll be given a luxiourus stipend to make art no one likes, instead of being forcibly retrained as a dental hygienist and deployed to Bangor Maine to care for the elderly population there"
