NYT trying to concoct a scandal out of Mamdani's comms people sending out press releases about like how they fixed a library, while top federal officials are in group chats with twitter nazis. Complete disgrace
It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
It's almost like as if years of micro transactions > live service > Always online > exesive crunch > Mass layoffs > AI addoption > 'you don't own anything' attitude > shitty CEO personalities, is really bad for a companies sales. Who knew?
A panel of experts said the game industry is currently in the worse state it's been in 40 years.
Technology being everywhere doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but necessary. We don't see it that way. This week, we announced a moratorium on generative AI for public school students in 2-K to 8th grade.

the big AI danger is not companies suddenly inventing skynet - that's marketing rubbish, musk promising mars colonies by 2030 type stuff. the danger is companies claiming to have invented skynet and then putting what they actually have, a chatbot, in charge of stuff that's important
blep (repost sorry there was a mistake and it bothered me TOO MUCH)
“this person is bad so their work was always bad” is also a really dangerous view to take because it leads to - unconscious or not - a bias towards “but I do like this other person’s work, ergo they must be a good person” which, as we have seen over and over, is simply not true
What happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good." That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.
this second session being impossible to schedule is the most D&D thing you could possibly imagine

"Mr. Mamdani is a master of new media... But as mayor, he has also been able to use taxpayer funds to create a sprawling network of hundreds of friendly influencers to boost his priorities, provide positive depictions of his administration and enhance his popularity."
I will add pressure to this by saying that any company that claims to not hold onto your personal data after verifying you? They're lying. Ive been nitro free since the first time they tried this, voice how you feel with your wallet people. Make them really feel that squeeze.

Joel Sartore photographs like he’s running out of time. The man behind National Geographic Photo Ark, an extraordinary collection of 18,000 animal portraits and counting, is 20 years into a project that stretches beyond the horizon. https://cnn.it/4gBS0D3

How to visit an art museum with someone who isn't used to visiting art museums:
Im fairly sure the commands they’re inputting into Grok to make these are subject to FOIA disclosure. It would be a fascinating piece, someone should write it!
