Anyone can be an 'autism expert' now, reports pioneering autist. "The term is effectively meaningless. In the ancient past only a tiny number of people were diagnosed as autism experts, but the field has expanded so much that many so-called experts show barely any sign of it at all, these days."

In the news today, Prof Frith repeating - to any news outlet that will listen - that there's no way to spot autistic people now. I don't know how to break this to the Professor, but Clinicians use...the diagnostic criteria. Which has to be matched for every person. It's not hard to understand.

No, autism is NOT overdiagnosed. It is *under diagnosed*, especially in autistics who aren't white boys from financially stable families. Anyone who claims we are overdiagnosing autism is either misinformed, or cruel, or both. #autism #neurodiversity

Animated images can blink or flash, presenting accessibility challenges. Flashing content can cause seizures, and many people are unaware they have this disorder until it strikes. To prevent triggering seizures, animated images should flash no more than three times per second.

Years ago, when I was a student, my mental illness got pretty bad. My so-called friends immediately became fed up and disgusted with me, saying I was "hard work", "too much" and "negative". They quickly disappeared from my life. Even a therapist threw me out part-way through our 4th session.

have you considered that using functioning labels actually reduces access to funding/funded resources by creating arbitrary categories that exclude people who may not obviously need support but actually flounder and fall through the cracks without enough support?

Even at the highest rate, PIP doesn't always cover all disability-related costs. Reductions are cruel and unjustifiable. It frustrates and worries me that there are people who not only don't understand this, but don't much care.

Many or most in receipt of PIP have to use it to cover rent, mortgage, food, bills as levels of UC are unrepresentative of the market rents & cost of living. eg LHA is currently half of what my rent is so the other half has to come from my PIP. How will I keep a roof over my head with 'services?
