Hi. I currently work for CBC Radio in Vancouver. I was born in the Blandlands. Re-posts are not endorsements. It means I think it's noteworthy. Or newsy. Bills, Canucks, Lions, Blue Jays, Caps.
It's not a war to disagree. I am unclear how separatists are a victim at all. Their argument is "I want to tear apart this country" which has, historically, caused great emotions in humans. But no one is shooting separatists. No one is imprisoning separatists. Where is the war?

An excellent profile of one of our foremost artists:
Colson Whitehead’s Big Score
As he closes out his Harlem crime trilogy with “Cool Machine,” the two-time Pulitzer winner turns again to the city that made him, and to the private ghosts behind his restless reinventions.

Contrary to popular belief, though we may be going through a tough time, a restructuring, and a little bit of a financial ~storm~ @pressprogress.ca is not dying. We have a lot of fight left in us, and a desire to keep building something good.
If you’re able to help us continue this work by becoming a member, or with a one-time donation, it would go a long way. Help us continue our fight, because I assure you, we still have a lot of fight left in us. Signed, Rumneek Johal pressprogress.ca/member/
No new normal!
This is genuinely astonishing: a piece by the Globe and Mail’s editorial board lamenting the “new normal” of wildfires and summer smoke and no mention whatsoever of a) climate change, or b) the burning of fossil fuels that causes it. #cdnpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/edit...
In the Okanagan this winter season, the avg temp was 3.8c above normal, we got 25% of our usual precip & our snowpack was a historic low of 52% of norm & yr 4 of drought The super El Nino is coming faster & harder than expected. Climate crisis is real We are evacuated, these pics show scale
Remember as your eyes burn from the smoke today, Ken Sim and ABC voted to allow fracked gas in new builds, cancelled $8 million in climate retrofit grants; voted against funding for cooling kits for people in the Downtown Eastside; and got rid of the climate justice charter.
Can't see the mountains today. Def feeling all this smoke now, feel like death.
Click-bait headline. An American man moves to Canada, then moves back to the States -- to Oklahoma of all places -- because he says the States, under Donald Trump, is safer for Jews than Canada. He is backed by an American Conservative think-tank.
Calls emerge for U.S. refugee status as group helps Jewish families flee Canada
A former Ontario man and a Conservative U.S. think tank are encouraging the Trump administration to offer refugee status to Jewish Canadians who feel threatened by rising antisemitism here.

Just to make the point abundantly clear, Chris Wallace is now a paid advisor to an investment firm that has a large stake in Paramount and a vested interest in getting the Warner Bros. merger over the line. www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/bus...

Bus driver on the 240 every morning, sounding like Rod Roddy: "Next Stop, end of the line, your job!" I'm glad he's enjoying it.
I've read most of the books on @tressiemcphd.bsky.social's proposed reading list and plan to read the rest. These are excellent recommendations. In fact, @gilduran.com (author of The Nerd Reich) will be a guest on Movement Memos soon.

The campfire seating arrangement is not at all what I want. I never want to sit going backwards in a car. Never. I don't even understand when people do it on the seabus.

There will be 150 affordable homes attached to this project. It raises a question: who needs affordable housing, that would live at Britannia Beach?

This song is being accused of being AI. I'm not entirely sure what genre it is. It's not rap. It's just not.

This (from the @wsj.com Editorial Board) distills every denialist trope there is: It implies climate change isn’t exacerbating extreme weather. It calls solutions “costly … nostrums.” It fosters doomerism. And it suggests we can just adapt to or “manage” climate impacts. How is this journalism?
It must really suck to live in Marvel's New York City.
