Liddle was an appalling person: selfish, narcissistic, violent in his personal life; racist, misogynist, a supporter of child pornography in his public one. None of those are to be “disagreed” with; they are to be condemned. What Goldacre reveals about himself here is unclear, but probably not good.

Sad to see people posting on social media negatively about Rod Liddle, who died yesterday. If I have disagreed with you very strongly in life - and you die - I hope I'll be either silent, or kind.

If someone has committed domestic abuse in their life, that should be mentioned most especially by our national broadcaster. To not do so, while releasing endless fawning obituaries, is to be complicit in societal misogyny and the erasure of victims.

Research on Romanies in general is under funded & unsupported British Romanies have suffered from a very successful Cultural Genocide that homogenises their ethnic identity with Irish Travellers & other itinerant people. Yet British universities & funders have no interest in this ethnocide.

Anna Mirga-Kruszelnicka writes that the Roma Holocaust remains a footnote in mainstream narratives of the Second World War: “Research on the Roma Holocaust is underfunded, while hundreds of its sites across Europe are still unmarked and disrespected.” eriac.org/anna-mirga-k...

This has made me so angry. It's time NHS staff were properly protected from these people who should be banned from accessing NHS treatment. Let them pay for a 'white' clinician if they want one so badly (and hopefully they'll struggle to find one- be an ally!) news.sky.com/story/nhs-st...

Patients refusing to be treated by non-white staff as NHS reports shocking rise in racism

Paul Awah, a Bedfordshire-based diagnostic radiographer originally from Nigeria, said: "It's definitely got worse – people are more expressive."

1/3 The dangers of the NHS's £330m contract with Palantir are well known. A subscription-based contract that leaves the NHS without meaningful ownership. Lock-in to a single supplier that risks future price gouging. Critical health infrastructure dependent on a shady spy-tech company.

Within the next 2 decades half the entire world’s infrastructure will be located in places where we can no longer survive. Half the global human population will need to migrate in the next 20 years just to survive.

Is “pragmatic” the new, “grown up” word? Andy, there’s nothing “pragmatic” about drilling for more oil & gas - to even consider it with the planet literally on fire is total madness. How many times must we say it will do nothing for energy bills or security? It would be an act of utter recklessness

Burnham promises ‘pragmatic’ approach to North Sea oil and gas

PM tells reporters the government cannot ignore the energy resource ‘when people are struggling’

Exactly. Same in the UK. Pro-lifers on the right - eg Danny Kruger - noisily profess their anti-abortion views, but invariably support exactly those policies that result in slow post-natal ones. Except for cancer, all categories of death in childhood have a social gradient. Child poverty is deadly.

They call themselves pro-life. Then they signed a law cutting $990 billion from the health coverage that insures poor children and $300 billion from the program that feeds them, the largest food-aid cut in history. CBO says 10 million lose coverage. The concern for the child expires at birth.
