In the summer of 2007 everyone told me I had to watch Once because it was the only movie that really captured what music was really about. I resisted at first, as I always do when things are popular, but saw a screening in fall. And they were right. Rest in peace, Glen Hansard. What an immense loss.

This is just awful. It seemed to me a great museum with some really strong interpretation. When I visited they had exhibits on South Bend resisting the Klan in the 20s and one on basketball shoes. What an appalling turn of events.

Gosh, the news out of Indiana is horrible. ICYMI, the Indiana Historical Society fired its entire Education and Engagement Team and its Exhibits staff. Apparently, the emergency all-hands meeting lasted 3 minutes & then they were all escorted from the building, having to return later for their stuff

If these guys were actually students of history they’d know Europe tried this type of shit all of the time and it always lasted like six months. A good rule of thumb if you think of some outlandish solution to democracy that benefits the rich the inbred French aristocrats probably tried it already.

Very cool that Shopify’s CEO thinks the poor should have far less of a vote than the rich. Still worth that ad read money, folks?

Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke says “good system.” In response to the following proposal: “Interesting... what about weighted voting proportional to the level of income tax you pay? (no income tax paid - O vote, $1-100k - 1 vote, $100-200k 2 votes and so on... cap it at 5 votes for $500k+. For those that constantly complain about the wealthy not paying tax/fair share they'd have nothing to worry about right? Why not reward representation of taxation and build a democracy around those that foot the bill?”
