In the period immediately following the Civil War, Black men held office. Schools were built. Wealth was accumulated. It was called Reconstruction. White Americans dismantled it. They retaliated not because Reconstruction failed, but because it was working. That pattern is repeating today.

Put another way—academic departments diversified at the same time as the pie shrank. This put women and minorities in the captain’s chair of a sinking ship. Convenient targets when, of course, those responsible for the crisis were largely white men with tenure who got their jobs in boom times.

BIANCO: “.. Feb 27 is the day before the war began. The black line is the S&P 500; it is up 10+% since Feb 27. The blue line is the S&P WITHOUT the AI stocks. .. It is still DOWN 0.66%. Maybe soaring gas prices are having an impact on the market after all?”

I only have a few words at this moment, mainly deep disappointment. The demolition of the Voting Rights Act is not simply a change in election law. It is a shift in who can effectively shape the future. It's a shift in America short lived democracy.

Imagine saying, “they have to obey the law“ when it comes to immigrants but not when it comes to the people holding the highest positions of power in the country yet still somehow expecting everyone to believe you take the law seriously.

At this point, people who deny the presidential administration's white supremacist assumptions and aims are either willfully ignorant or quietly supportive. The evidence is simply to overwhelming to deny.

One of the greatest deceptions of our time is that we should be more concerned about immigrants possibly being criminals than we are about those in the highest positions of power, who wear crosses, quote scripture, while actually just using Christianity as a tool to perpetrate injustice.

The story isn’t necessarily that Democrat Taylor Rehmet won a Texas election in a district Trump won by 17 points Or that Rehmet was outspent 20-to-1 Or even that his opponent was backed by Trump and Greg Abbott It’s that 57% of the voters were REPUBLICANS And Rehmet STILL WON by 12 points

JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate. Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards. With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43. Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

God is clear about the sins of kidnapping (man-stealing), murder, and bearing false witness. God is clear about his care for foreigners, neighbors, the poor, and those on the margins. Righteousness, justice, mercy, and love for neighbor are not conditional standards for Jesus' followers.
