Dad, Professor of Astronomy at the University of Louisville. He/Him/hey you. Opinions are my own. As are the typos. Astronomy, datascience, ethics & occasional US/EU politics.

People who know Kentucky politics: This Aug. 3 "deadline" is nothing. It's not a thing. People who have never set foot in Kentucky but have access to ChatGPT: Why are you complicit in covering up Mitch McConnell's death??? WHY WON'T ANDY BESHEAR STORM A HOSPITAL???

Overnight temperatures are warming up across much of the contiguous United States during the month of August. Some of the largest trends are across the West, especially for daytime maximum temperatures (which I will post later). More U.S. climate change visuals: zacklabe.com/united-state...

Map of changes in August minimum temperatures across the contiguous United States from 1976 to 2025. Nearly all areas are seeing warming, which is largest over the South and West. Data is from NClimGrid.

Huh a decision by the current administration that makes a certain amount of sense. The USN does not have a single arctic capable vessel and the two icebreakers are with the coast guard and from 1970’s. If you believe oil extraction is where it’s at, the arctic is the key strategic area.
