Gorgeous redhead with peculiar ideas

Watching an Axon worker walk by with multiple plushie baubles on their backpack and thinking "You know, I somehow expected the collapse into the surveillance state to look less boring."

“You’re a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, how come you don’t like Palantir?” “You’re a huge fan of 1984, how come you don’t like the surveillance state?” “You’re a huge fan of Fahrenheit 451, how come you don’t like ritual book burnings?”

Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude

You go to your closet, and you select I don’t know, that lumpy blue dress because you’re trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back, but... that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually wine-dark.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

My hot take of the night is that cigarettes might have been a load bearing part of society, in that it was a final item that could require physical assistance regularly and therefore forced mild human interaction of asking for a light.

ROUTE 8 and DENNY WAY: starting on Saturday, buses and cars merging onto Interstate 5 won’t compete for the same lane of Denny Way. To keep traffic flowing, people driving to I-5 south from eastbound Denny Way will turn right on Boren Ave and left on Howell St instead of using Yale Ave.

A Route 8 bus stuck in general traffic along Denny Way.A map showing changes to Denny Way. The route for cars is shown: drivers access I-5 by turning onto Boren Ave and then Howard St.

I love packing an apartment because there are all these great moments of sifting my items out from my roommate's, and so I get to focus on real questions like "Wait, is that a Karl Marx nude?"

I don't know how you're supposed to talk people out of the idea that policy shouldn't be punitive and cruel to vulnerable members of our society just to prevent a problem that only exists for the brief moment between first imagining it and then briefly thinking through the implications.

I have increasingly felt that Stevens and her supporters’ attacks on El-Sayed smack of anti-Muslim and anti-Arab prejudice. And there has been at least one overt statement from an endorser. It’s very troubling. Muslim and Arab voters are part of the Democratic coalition.

I'm deeply disappointed in this action and the giving in to billionaire hate mongers that attack members of my own family. However, and this is an important distinction, Amnesty International UK is not, per se, the Amnesty International primary global International Secretariat (IS).

if anyone ever asks you what "single state reality" refers to, a post that frames shooting an occupying soldier as a murder while casually referring to normal rules of coordination and cooperation between an occupying nation's lawbreaking settlers and its army is a pretty good example

Killing an illegally-present, occupying soldier is verbatim the most legal thing a person is allowed to do under every single international law.

Today's deadly clash in the West Bank began when about 30 settlers, including armed men and minors, entered Tell, a Palestinian village that Israelis are not allowed to enter, using a "hike" as cover. They did not coordinate with the IDF, even though it is required. The incident ended in a gunfight that killed two Israelis and four Palestinians, and the IDF sent five more companies to the area to contain the situation the settlers had started.

None of this excuses the Palestinian who seized a weapon and killed an Israeli officer. That is a crime in its own right, and two Israeli families are grieving tonight. But it does not change how the events began, or who set them in motion.

Not a SINGLE educator or direct service provider has come out for means testing. They are ALL for Universal school meals. Some of the community orgs that came out in favor of means testing have political suction within the Hollingsworth/Harrell nexus.
