Der norwegische König ist verstorben. Wenn ich mich frage, was das Königsideal wirklich ausmacht, diesen Ausdruck eines zutiefst menschlichen Wunsches und den Grund, warum eine moderne Gesellschaft im 21. Jahrhundert die Institution des Königs bewahrt, denke ich an J.R.R. Tolkien.

Telemark in the south of Norway where I live is full of little and not so little art projects. This installation you can find just at the roadside at Svartdal. It features different forms of butterfly eggs cut from marble.

Eine Freundin, die an der deutsch-belgischen Grenze wohnt, hat heute Morgen dieses Foto gemacht. Das was ihr da seht ist der Großbrand im hohen Venn. Nur dass es dort 1.600ha (für euch: 2.200 Fussballfelder) sind. Das Bild wurde nicht bearbeitet. Dort brennt das Moor (Methan=blau)

Weite Landschaft mit dicht bewaldeten Hügeln und mehreren Häusern im Vordergrund. Die Gebäude sind teilweise von Bäumen und Sträuchern verdeckt und haben überwiegend rote Ziegeldächer. Über der Baumlandschaft liegt ein flächiger, kräftig orangefarbener Schleier, der den Himmel vollständig einfärbt. In der Mitte des Horizonts ist zwischen den Bäumen ein auffälliger intensiv blauer bis türkisfarbener Lichtschein zu sehen. Die dunklen Baumkronen und Häuser bilden einen starken Kontrast zu der ungewöhnlich orangefarbenen Himmelsfläche und dem blauen Bereich am Horizont.

John Crowley has died, a much-loved friend & perhaps the most brilliant writer of our time. I recall the sense of immanence I felt upon reading Aegypt nearly 40 years ago, doors opening endlessly in front of me. We are blessed to have lived in his world & to have his work now that's he's left it.

Ad astra, John Crowley. His fantasy novel "Ka: Dar Oakley in the ruin of Ymr", in which a crow retells its different lives from prehistoric times to a dystopian future, was one of the most intense reading experiences I ever had. 🖤

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...
