Reminder of the Cat bread product temperature guide: Bagel - freezing Loaf - cold Croissant - warm Baguette - hot Flatbread - boiling there is also the rare pretzel variant, which mostly means: 'this cat is a daft bugger'

Look, this is sad, but it's been the playbook with every public good for 40+ years: make it shit via underfunding and putting arseholes in charge, then go "the private sector would do it better" and sell it off to venture capitalists. I love LOVE the (concept of the) BBC, I hope it's saveable

Really sad news. Thinking of my very talented colleagues today

Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇

See also the prevalence of media depicting inescapable traps or endless loops. It is an insight into the mindset of young people who feel trapped in a soulless corporate hellscape

Pookleblinky@pookleblinky.bsky.social · 3mo ago

The reason young people vibe with liminal horror is that the wealthy have spent the last half century destroying all anthropological spaces they can exist in, leaving *only* non-places en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-place

Come work with me!!! BOOM! is hiring a full-time comic editor to the team! This role doesn’t report to me so I won’t be heavily involved in the hiring process, but our whole team is amazing and you’ll get to work with all of us! www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/44...

Jesus H Christ this looks like absolute shite. As with all crap modern animation they have the potato faces and bean mouths. Really obviously created by a focus group instead of real people.

New Doctor Who just dropped.

Sounds like a good time to point out that the SEGA/Sonic fanbase still has many possible *unofficial* homes for you, in all manner of languages and focuses, with literal DECADES of experience. Consider the following locations (and beyond):

Aaaand after a rash of bannings and a lockdown, the official Sonic Discord is back up and running! #SonicNews Rocky launches are nothing new for Sonic, but the Discord at least seems back to normal now. If you missed what happened, we'll have an article all about it soon!

This article has been updated with a new bonus... AUDIO EXAMPLES! I had fun recording these ridiculously over-the-top "bad anime reads"... they're exaggerated to prove a point, but I hope this helps explain the concepts 😂 voiceactingclub.com/anime-sound

CMS should be the biggest, most powerful department in the government because it's where we are truly world-beating. The fact that it's given to an invisible non-entity like Nandy, while government wangs on about fishing and oil drilling is so shortsighted, stupid and frustrating

Jim Rossignol@rossignol.bsky.social · 6d ago

This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

I'm a little late on announcing this, but we made something for the other port. SuperStation Bluetooth Receiver goes on sale on October 6th. Supports SS1, PS1 and PS2. $15, or as a free perk with an SS1 Transparent Collection order.

Taki Udon@takiudon.bsky.social · 2w ago

It’s time to get the band back together. SSMC Founders Edition and SSMC Lite go on sale on October 6th. SS1/PS1/PS2 Virtual memory cards, Game ID, FreePSXBoot, FCMB, OPL MMCE (loading ISOs on stock PS2, Arduboy dual-boot, and more. Fully open source. FE $25 / Lite $20

Has anyone else noticed how much modern media involves infinite, inescapable spaces or endless loops? P.T, Alan Wake 2, Exit 8, The Backrooms. I wonder what that's all about. *opens today's news* ...Oh.

The Full Monty.

name the film that made you laugh the hardest.

Do you recognise these buildings seen in the title sequence of 1963's 'Billy Liar'. If so, please let us know and the first to tell us will be credited with the identification. The film was mainly shot in Bradford, Leeds, London and Manchester. Thanks in advance for looking.

The UK Arts & Ents industry contributes over £10bn to the UK economy a year & one of these days our politicians might even realise that instead writing it off as icky girlie flouncing bc you can't do a photoshoot in a hard hat & hi-vis gilet at the national theatre without looking like a tit

Danielle Blake@abradacabla.bsky.social · last wk.

I mean for one thing Neil, if you guys invested in the arts at all you’d have come up with a less embarrassing riff on the Bayeux Tapestry than that AI slop

I'm getting very tired of seeing an advert for something that looks very cool or cute, and having to check every single time if the place selling it is a scam or not.

Here's yet another way that men sabotage women's careers: enable networking events that are threatening, abusive, potentially catastrophically violent for women, and so women leave early. How convenient for men. Remember this when you compare career trajectories.

maura quint@mauraquint.bsky.social · 2w ago

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

So, expect news that Xbox has been acquired by the Embracer Group or NetEase next week, then?

Goddamn it. A concert this weekend we were looking forward to has been cancelled. It was a triple-bill tribute to Toto, Foreigner, and (of all things) War of the Worlds.
