This sums up my own experience in recent years. My theory is that there are so many genuine existential crises right now that people's instinct is to treat even low-stakes issues (movies! fandoms! personal preferences!) like existential crises. Makes having a normal conversation almost impossible.

Among more recent books, Starter Villain is the one that really popped; it's got a great cover and crossover appeal. I remember reading John Rogers’ blog decades ago where he pointed out that the “plainest,” quirkiest female actor you’ll see on TV would be the most attractive person in any room you’ve ever been in. Not a slag on people in normal rooms, but the bar is different for performers.
As a creator/publisher: I'd REALLY like for Sweet Shop to work out. Post-Amazon buyout, Comixology died on the vine. It's a non-service, at this point. Sweet Shop is run by ppl who actually give a crap about comics and want to make it easier for people to read them. So grab some ultra-cheap books!
