In the 2 years since I quit Rockstar, me and my friends have shipped an indie game (Void Sols), released a demo (Mouseward), and are putting the finishing touches on our hobby project (Planet Jellham) Really puts into perspective how mismanaged AAA games are, things don't have to be this painful.
If we want to truly accept games as art, we also have to accept that better graphics and more convenient gameplay doesn’t make a game inherently better. Sometimes “ugly” visuals or frustrating gameplay is a core aspect of what makes it.
