damn they are good at this ready-made thing
Nice styling from Anderson & Sheppard's Haberdashery. 20 yrs ago, A&S had a line on the bottom of their homepage, explaining they're a bespoke tailor, not ready-to-wear. With rising Mayfair rents, many tailoring shops have moved into ready-made. IMO, A&S has been among the more successful at this.
i miss spamming insta stories with inane bullshit so here’s some dumb pics of stupid crap from the last week, with commentary in the alt text
instrumentalizes you making you the same size and shape you were but with my hands on your grips
@grimalkina.bsky.social i thought about you a lot today in bio anth seminar! we were talking about how/whether it’s possible to measure intelligence (in the context of early hominid evolution & brain size) and what we’re actually talking about when we say “intelligence.”
holy god am i ever fucking tired of tech people talking about human evolution and cognition. i am going to write a book about the computer that contextualizes it in the whole entire history of human tool use and use it to beat people to death
The only thing more exciting than rural history is rural crime.
We're working on a talk about some fascinating Ridgeway history and sadly this means we have to actually mention work done by the most terrible of professions: archaeologists
My favourite student teaching session of the year is here again. Venetian books by the Sessa dynasty and their cats!
sentences that make you feel insane for having to say them:“Putting ’FAKE DATA’ on a graph doesn't change the fact that you're trying to use it!”
This graph and frankly the whole report is an excellent example of why we need better "independent" researchers who aren't part of the rationalist ecosystem. You can't take the slope of fake data! Putting "FAKE DATA" on a graph doesn't change the fact that you're trying to use it!
i didn’t hate this at all, it’s quite good! but i hated the emotional experience of reading it because it was excruciating and i was NOT prepared. ethnography!!!
