The US offers a terrifying glimpse into our future if we fail to end winner-take-all voting. Hyper-partisan politics, regional domination, wrong-winner outcomes, and single-party majorities enable authoritarian shifts. Without proportional representation, we remain vulnerable.

Unfortunately, I knew exactly what America was in the wake of 9/11 when Dems eagerly worked with the GOP to erode the privacy and rights of Americans, and gleefully engaged in wars and operations abroad until it became politically costly. Dems will just apologize that a dagger is in our back.

The US is an empire, and culturally it is incapable of caring about what happens to those outside its imperial core. This extends from the top to bottom, with very few exceptions. The percentage of Americans who care about the harm their country does abroad must be single digit percentile.

and they wonder why Canadians now refuse to buy US products if they can avoid it and they wonder why Canadians now refuse to travel to the US if they can avoid it Canadians feel hurt and betrayed by the way this administration is treating them and they are pissed off!

Let's do some Canadian pipeline-wildfire math. The Canadian Energy Center says growing oil exports by 1.5M barrels/day **could** boost GDP by ~31B annually. Meanwhile, wildfire smoke health costs alone - just the health costs, nothing else - averaged 23B/year, past tense. And they're growing fast.
