We’re not looking for R below 1. If the mortality is 40% we should be aiming for NO transmission at all. Particularly as that would have been entirely achievable with a contained outbreak like this. Interesting that the “experts” haven’t realised we’d prefer NO deaths, to a few controlled ones.
A good point someone else made: if you're going to stock up on masks, do it now. Not just because there might be a run on them later, but because the mask material is made from petroleum, and we're heading into a huge global oil crash from Trump & Bibi's insane war on Iran.
Outbreaks definitely don't start via asymptomatic cases or transmission we never look for.
WHO is still using the term “close contact” - but this is not a mode of transmission. Repeated reports of transmission in crowded indoor spaces, prolonged interactions, and transport settings should raise concerns about airborne inhalation risk. 4/

And who will people blame if it turns out some of the passengers are infected and spread it to others? Hantavirus can take several weeks to show up. A casual approach to contagious diseases is self-defeating, literally.

I think that, for most people in the US, the promise of vaccines was “one and done.” So anyone who says “oh, you’re not done” doesn’t believe in vaccines.
Why do they always emphasize hand hygiene if clean air is so important? Because the air is their responsibility, and your hands are yours.
If nurses would just wear respirators at work, most wouldn't get this occupational disease. Healthcare settings should mandate respirators for employees and patients. Why do people lose their minds over respirators?
Many of us are incredibly angry that she has exposed people to Covid, in such a cavalier manner. Infecting people with preventable illness and potentially damaging their health, should never be acceptable.
