I guess while everyone is airing their pandemic grievances I’ll add that as a nurse, the most traumatic thing about the pandemic for me was the lack of appropriate PPE and the denial of airborne spread that STILL happens in healthcare
Cognitive dysfunction and fatigue remain prevalent at least 3 years post-infection, particularly affecting attention, processing speed, and working memory. Pts included both hospitalized and non-hospitalized.

Governments and certain key opinion formers aren’t being open and honest about the risks associated with COVID-19 and their actions will have long-term consequences for public health and trust in science. johnsnowproject.org/primers/hone...
"In-person school contributed to transmission "More than 70% of transmissions in households with adults and children were from a pediatric index case, but this percentage fluctuated weekly," the study authors wrote. "Once US schools reopened in fall 2020, children contributed more to inferred..."
“myocarditis, … thromboembolism, acute kidney injury, … pain, arrhythmias, fatigue and malaise, …postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or dysautonomia, cognitive impairment, and respiratory problems…” Not a threat to children. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
Covid was- overwhelmingly- not a threat to children. Hence why (generally) we don’t vaccinate them now.
Well, no it really isn't - but this statement *is* a good reason to treat this person's reporting on anything as suspect, so thanks for letting us all know.
Long covid is a disputed subject, at best.
1 in 4 US children have an “underlying” health condition
They think they're being clever eugenicists by saying that people with "underlying health issues" don't matter, but >75% of U.S. adults have a chronic condition (including 60% of age 18–34). So what they're really saying is "nobody matters, it's okay if everybody dies from inadequate regulation."
Excellent thread showing how we didn't get the truth when we needed it. This absolutely informs my choice to continue wearing a respirator-style mask in indoor public spaces and avoid unmasked crowds outdoors as well, *especially* given the destruction of public health under the current regime.
Not a single thing we were told about #COVID turned out to be correct. A long thread 🧵
Honestly one of the things that makes me most angry is our failure to protect children Many kids will have had several COVID infections before they can even speak Many will have long COVID before they even enter school We are disabling entire generations And it will come back to haunt us
Not a big fan of the "sick, elderly and/or disabled people don't count" discourse that appears to follow public health disasters these days.
Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.
everybody wants to do their own "personal risk calculation" but nobody wants to acknowledge what the risks even are
the current covid vaccines do not prevent long covid from currently circulating variants, they only lower the chances, but you guys aren't ready for that conversation
if you hated covid "lockdowns" try long covid
a simple web search will return dozens of articles from peer-reviewed journals and international federal health organizations saying almost exactly the same thing. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
maybe take it to the next level and say why do you want to take away my FREE vaccines. they're stealing one of the best treats available to us
It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.
New JAMA paper describes an RCT with portable air filters in nursing homes in the UK. Filters were undersized and not always on. Guess what...there was no difference in wintertime respiratory infections. It's like testing a new drug at 20% of the recommended dose. www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/can...
Can air purifiers prevent flu and COVID-19 in nursing homes? Only if they’re used properly

1. A reminder that if you do believe that the Covid-19 pandemic occurred as a result of accidental release from a laboratory, then you're also tacitly acknowledging that said pandemic is an unprecedented event caused by an unprecedented pathogen.
Full circle. The RT-qPCR admission screening policy at the hospital was stopped 19 May 2023. "Without universal PCR screening these individuals would have entered the hospital undetected, seeding nosocomial outbreaks. Symptom-based or contact-based strategies alone are clearly insufficient."
By then we had vaccines. We had testing. We had respirators. The gatekeeping of them was a problem. What we did not have was support that the guidance on airborne transmission, or asymptomatic transmission, needed to change.
"While seroprevalence studies estimated that fewer than 10% of the" [Canadian] "population had been infected prior to January 2022, over 70% had been infected by December 2022." I wonder what caused that? Would it have been the great 'giving up' rather than admitting CoVID-19 was airborne?
"It’s clear that some JCVI members are not just against the vaccine, but like Ms. Margulis, they are actively on the side of virus."
The UK resisted pediatric vaccinations because they embraced the We Want Them Infected movement, using infected kids as human shields to theoretically protect adults.
One Earth, one sky, one atmosphere, one polluted air. Combustion, smoke, vapour, dust, pathogens. Moving through and via one shared system. No borders, no insulation, no escape. Indoors isn’t completely separate. The air carries our history. And in the end, the sky writes the record of who we were.
It's absolutely wild to me reading people from countries that had the worst response in the G20 to covid telling each other that they did too much. 🫠
"PRRSV can travel 2.92 miles (4.7 km) and is still viable to infect a farm (Dee et al., 2009)." "respiratory viruses (PRRSV, IAV-S) virus was found to be viable of particles larger than 2.1µm (Alonso et al., 2015)." 4.7Km > 6 feet But sure healthcare's six foot guideline totally makes sense.
So after seeing these results infection control thought it necessary to continue the universal PCR screening. Right?
"Without universal PCR screening these individuals would have entered the hospital undetected, seeding nosocomial outbreaks. Symptom-based or contact-based strategies alone are clearly insufficient." And this will all never be mentioned ever again.

comes with medical equipment. An IV infusion pump, 100’s in every hospital, critical for the accurate, metered dispensing of medications. Look for the RCTs to verify through blinded trials that those pumps are accurately dispensing medication. There aren’t any. Because you don’t RCT something
@ukhadds.bsky.social I am wondering about the quote in the next post from the recent High-Efficiency Particulate Air Filters to Prevent Winter Respiratory Infections in Care Homes The AFRI-c Cluster Randomized Clinical Trial published in JAMA.

"There is a trope among anti-vaccine activists that immunity from contracting and surviving a disease is superior to vaccine immunity."
Natural immunity from a disease is not better than vaccine immunity; in fact, #vaccine immunity IS natural immunity without all of the dangers of the vaccine-preventable disease.
