So cool they discovered the cause of autism on basically day they guessed they would. I’m also glad they are withholding this information for a few days to prep for a WrestleMania-style announcement. This is how science works.
"Common decency stigmatizes people that do not participate in it—removes them from voluntary association. We indeed have to live with one another, but terms and conditions apply." me on why Ezra Klein should be ashamed / why shame is Good Actually www.bostonreview.net/articles/how...
How Can We Live Together? - Boston Review
Ezra Klein is wrong: shame is essential.

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back
Du Bois on what these assholes were really like
Quick question: Are people insane?
. Trump sent ICE to raid parks in LA today but still hasn’t sent federal support to help find the missing children from the Texas floods. Families are grieving. Kids are gone. & instead of rescue teams, we get fear tactics. This is beyond disgusting. #TexasFloods #TedCruz #Republicans .
Read news, op-eds, and analysis, not AI summaries. Create your own art (even if it's messy) or hire an artist to do it. Do your own homework. Talk to people, not chatbots. Keep your thinking and skills sharp and cherish our messy humanity. That's the new punk rock.
we have an elite impunity problem (globally, but the US is certainly no exception) and nothing will get better until we deal with this
so much driving motivation in people in even the slightest position of power, regardless of where they find themselves on the political map, is "i should never have to feel bad, feel regret, feel shame, or otherwise reconsider my decisions" and every choice, policy and personal, falling from there
Republicans just took away your healthcare so they can fund their secret police: newrepublic.com/post/197612/...
Congress Gives ICE More Money Than It Could Have Ever Imagined
It’s impossible to overstate how much power ICE just got from Trump’s budget.

me interviewing every animal to see if their politics align with mine before raising money for an animal shelter
Texas isn't the only red state. They're a parasitic collective. Those kids' parents killed then, not me. They voted for budget cuts. They got em. I voted for the lady and the coach. Not my problem.
They finally made the milk from that hotel
I continue to be struck by this language of “in accordance with the president’s priorities,” which treats the executive branch as an extension of the person of the president, and not a mechanism for instituting the will of Congress
Every word of this is depraved beyond belief. ICE abducted a six year old with leukemia, threatened him with a gun such that he wet himself, and has denied him medical treatment. I don’t know what to say. www.tpr.org/border-immig...
We are posting this placard at all of our offices and asking our union contract farms to post as well. We encourage our friends to put up similar placards at their business as immigration agents do not have the right to go on private property without permission.
Yet again America is bombing the Middle East and yet again we the American people are given a very lame excuse as to why.
Chuck Schumer about to write the President a sternly-worded thank you note
They have made the world living hell for no reason whatsoever. People will ask why this happened in a decade and there will be tremendous effort to make it more complicated than “they were evil, stupid, and bored”
The New York Times is, sneakily, one of the most anti-trans organizations in the country
1. After the Skrmetti decision, the New York Times has published 6 articles dancing on the graves of trans youth and spreading disinformation on care. It was cited 7 times in the ruling. Read my latest on what will be a black stain on the NYT for a generation. Subscribe to support my journalism.
There are no distractions. It's all bad. Systematically stripping trans people of their rights, guys in balaclavas shoving any brown person with a tattoo into a ummarked vans, ending healthcare for millions. It's all in service of fascism and technofeudalism. It's all one thing. That's the point.
Was consumed all day at work by the fact that trump tweeted "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" at Iran, which from any normal president would be hugely consequential and it wasn't even a story because the media has just sort of deformed itself into nihilistic acceptance of the fact that he's insane
Worse, the entire media basically knows this. They incredibly low standards they display for him are obvious. And yet they rarely highlight this as the disqualifying truth it is.
It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.
New York Is Not a Democracy. Democracy Is Not a Salad. A Salad Is Not a Chevrolet. A Chevrolet Is Not 36 Rats in a Trenchcoat. New York is 36 Rats in a Trenchcoat. Could ranked/ choice voting help Zohran Mamdani beat Andrew Cuomo?
Oh lol so he's definitely gonna win huh?
I am wondering why Lisa Leher from the @nytimes.com did not discuss the data that suggests political violence in the US in the current era mostly comes from the right. Seems like a strange fact to ignore. 1/ www.nytimes.com/2025/06/14/u...
Like School Shootings, Political Violence Is Becoming Almost Routine

Remarkable. MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful." Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd. Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.
"First responders" needs to be abolished from style guides because its purpose is to smuggle cops into a category that includes EMTs and firefighters. The phrase is deliberate copaganda that allows abusers to borrow an aura of respectability from other groups.
THREAD: The assassinations in Minnesota highlight a dirty secret hardly ever mentioned in the news: U.S. has 1.1 million private police officers. There is an unprecedented footprint of privately organized violence that is doing all sorts of things most people have no idea about.
love how it says the majority would rather have someone other than cuomo, describes how ranked choice fixes this, and then implies it's somehow less democratic
Oh lol so he's definitely gonna win huh?
I did not edit this, this is the actual parade with the actual music being played. CINEMATIC
