Happy to hear of the death of Rod Liddle, a man whose own writing led me to believe that he was a paedophile
Hmm, between Here Come The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), Another Green World Richard D James, Drukqs, Syro Music Has The Right To Children, Geogaddi, The Campfire Headphase Songs Of Leonard Cohen, Songs From A Room, Songs Of Love And Hate Hi How Are You, Retired Boxer, Respect
What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
Today is Roma Holocaust Memorial Day. Around 500,000 Roma & Sinti people were killed by the Nazis in the Porajmos. There was no state given to them after the war. Commemoration of their suffering is often diminished or forgotten. Racism towards Romani people across Europe remains acceptable.
🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12
Everything I’ve seen about the spycops inquiry suggests that it was always about bullying, molesting and generally fucking with a bunch of greenies and antinuclear protestors, because they are the kind of people the state can fuck over and stomp on with impunity, for fun.

Senior officer behind closure says SDS caused ‘incalculable harm’ by infiltrating groups that posed no threat

US narrative is more complicated for various reasons, but "summer 2020 rishi sunsk started the covid revival project with eat out to help out, and by january everything was so fucked they had to lock down the whole country for 5 more months" is simple, true, and all these weirdos have just forgotten
I go back to that Times Radio show where Matt Chorley and a colleague were giggling about their favourite Boris Johnson, What A Legend moment and another colleague said she didn’t have one, because Covid 19 had killed her mother and everyone else on her floor of her care home within a few weeks.
Remember, in January 2021, after the govt lost control of Covid infections for the second time, a thousand people a day were dying in the UK. Without lockdowns, we still had no means of slowing that explosion. And that’s apart from all the other ways this claim is just stupid.
People really do project knowledge backwards. All the decisions which were made during the pandemic were made with hospitals at capacity, people dying and becoming severely disabled, and no knowledge of what future variants would emerge or how dangerous they might be.
Every five days, a mosque is attacked in the UK. How many of them have you heard about? How many of them made the nightly news? At least 70 attacks in the past year alone. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
One UK mosque attacked ‘every five days’, says British Muslim Trust
More than 70 attacks have been recorded over past year, including acts of violence, property damage and vandalism

The Met Police arrested people for all sorts of ludicrous reasons, including putting down a tiny stand so that people sharing poetry and song could be heard. No amplification was used at all. One muslim woman was arrested for simply greeting the crowd. She said nothing unlawful.
It's finally here, I'm ending the Starmer trilogy and it was a blast to make. This time I'm trying to work out whether the 2+ years of feckless, useless, bigoted government had a point to it? And if so what it was. youtu.be/tKw1PGRDLvQ
What was the point of Keir Starmer?

Here's the deal with the pre-review study Tesla funded on turbine carnage. This is my first piece on the Data Centers Breaking Things beat. TLDR; AI training is wearing out, even breaking, a critical source of energy for AI training www.investors.com/news/turbine...
Well well well between this and the call to proscribe Bash Back we really are through the looking glass where property damage is now “terrorist violence“, PA proscription really did open the door to the authoritarianism knocking
This is absolutely beyond the pale. Criminal damage is *not* fucking terrorism. And changing the crime *after* the jury has delivered its verdict is fucking kangaroo court stuff. Prosecutors call for Barclays protesters to be sentenced under UK terror laws giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

For those interested in an overview of the history of free speech battles at British universities, I have uploaded the introduction to my book, 'No Platform', to ResearchGate and academia dot edu. www.researchgate.net/publication/... www.academia.edu/44497710/No_...

"Lord" Walney, AKA John Woodcock, is - outside of his authoritarian views - a racist who argued that Moazzam Begg should have his passport revoked for standing up for Gazans, and who left the Labour party after accusations of bullying and sexual misconduct. Why should anyone listen to him?
This is deeply worrying and would amount to no less than trying to proscribe trans people for acts of self defence against a regime on the attack.
Tomorrow, Lord Walney, who was responsible in part for the proscription of Palestine Action, will publish an article in The Times arguing that BASH BACK be proscribed as a terrorist organisation. We will not be intimidated. Neither should you. xoxo BASH BACK
If a hundred landlords from the home counties got some busses, 24 cans of Stella apiece and some gear then milled around a war memorial for a bit then there would absolutely be coverage.
150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.
She literally did a co-branded music video with the US military to promote recruitment
A pop star is furious her song appeared in a White House video about military strikes in Iran.
The best subjects to study to understand the problems with the world are the ones they are cracking down on
I haven't read this yet but come on with that headline. The study of sociology. The study, of soci-ology.
Just had a cringe flashback to a couple of summers ago when, walking down the street, I hadn't realised my Bluetooth had disconnected from my headphones and I was confused as to why The Robots by Kraftwerk was playing so quietly so I whacked it up to full volume and carried on. Lots of looks my way
The framing of this as "crashing" frustrates me, because this was absolutely a stunt arranged through & with the support of Comic Con, probably to avoid the protests & pushback if people had known about it in advance. It's not a fun perk for fans, it's stealth marketing of a domestic abuser.
Johnny Depp surprised fans at Comic-Con by showing up unannounced at an unrelated panel in character as Ebenezer Scrooge.
I literally paid a liberal I'm in a WhatsApp group with to listen to this
