Assets that I made for the 2024 Roguelike Celebration Steam sale page. 🧑‍🎨 The tallish tile size here I'm very fond of. I choose it because it reminds me of the tall grid often in ASCII roguelikes, but it also had some benefits when it came to actually draw the tiles & sprites.

The Beta Decay dev-logs are mindboggling... It's like a (mostly) solo developer is doing something on Star Citizen's scope and ambition and (mostly) pulling it off. Yeah, there's huge mechs. But now they've got all their internals modelled, My Summer Car style. You need an exosuit to move engines.

Development Update #40 (Public View) | beta decay

Hello All, THE BIG 4-0 HAS ARRIVED! Every fifth devlog marks a special "Anniversary Edition," and devlog #40 carries that tradition forward.

FINAL FIGHT very early update: I think this is a good moment to both chat about where I'm at in this 1CC effort (a VERY long way away from even being able to *see* the finish line), and how I generally conceptualize and approach improving at an arcade game towards a goal clear. Feedback's welcome!

It's bloggerin' time! I wrote up how my NPC behavior planning works and how I leveraged reinforcement learning techniques used by Chess and Go algorithms to make my baddies smart and efficient. Enjoy! blog.brianna.town/the-bigger-b... #gamedev #indiedev #blog

I once wrote a short story about future Special Forces being just expendable 19yr old climbers / hikers tasked with getting AI driven sniper rifles and missile launchers into wilderness areas. Years later I saw how gig-econ systems push food delivery drivers and though wow, we're 1/2 way there

dragon lady next to me at the second life rave was too close and her wings kept clipping through my player model. I didn't mind but she apologied each and every time it happened. chat was filled with hundreds of variations of "oop sowwie >_<!! xoxo" and "uaah! not again! orz" by the end of the night

Was just scouring the release calendars for interesting stuff out this month, and The Local caught my eye. Hyper-mobile speed FPS inspired by Quake/HL/CS bunnyhopping/surfing maps, plus a bit of Jet Set Radio. I know some people who this'll be like catnip for. Not too many games for movement sickos

The Local on Steam

A fast-paced parkour game, loosely inspired by Surf and B-Hop. Featuring 5 gamemodes, multiplayer, and a large, playground-like world. Master the movement, and conquer the leaderboards.
