An underappreciated dynamic of how consumers perceive tech is not just "what have you done for me lately?" but also "why the fuck should I believe you?". A company can be totally correct on several matters but if you lied in the recent past then it doesn't matter.

Went on a, like, 4-day bender learning GNOME's GUI library and seeing how far I could get with making an app with a 3D viewport. Got a window with a collapsible sidebar and an OpenGL surface! Quickly hit enough friction that told me I already have projects to focus on. But it was fun!

I haven't had a programming interview this entire year, man. I'm applying to jobs, I've worked in games for 12 consecutive years, and I'm not even getting screener calls. I'm willing to be told there's something I'm doing wrong in my applications, but I've never experienced this much silence.
I mean, if I was stuck in ReStory for a year, that means I have a job plus job security, so hell yeah.
