Art is life.

Sometimes society at large rejects certain ideas because they’ve been thoroughly shown to be wrong and also because they suck and the people who espouse them suck and when someone comes around arguing those ideas should be part of some edgy modern debate we can and should shun them and move on.

Watching Prime Minister Carney discussing the breakdown of the Canada-US trade deal at a press conference and just really appreciating living in a country where the leader can speak coherently and knowledgeably about what is actually happening.

I’ll be heading back to Springfield soon but I also want to stress something: imagine what it must have been like for a Haitian family in Springfield for the past two years. To live under constant, growing threat like that from the most powerful person on the planet. Imagine what it’s been like for…

Katie Kersh, an immigration lawyer who’s been in Springfield Ohio a lot in the past couple years, tells me just now: “ICE is absolutely everywhere in Springfield. It is very visible.” noticeable ramping up lately. It is going to likely get… worse

The Trump administration fired the editor of Stars & Stripes. The military newspaper's publisher, who announced he would retire earlier this week, was also fired. The paper had revealed the deplorable conditions on the USS Lincoln, embarrassing Hegseth and Trump.

Scoop with @liamjscott.bsky.social: The Pentagon fired Stars and Stripes's publisher, editor-in-chief, and a reporter today following criticism of DOD interference. The EIC and reporter were fired for "insubordination" for doing a CBS interview. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Yesterday, Aug. 20, was one of the worst days of ICE flights I've seen. -At least 82 ICE flights -At least 15 were removal flights, including Haiti -At least 5 removals were third-country removals (Cameroon, Costa Rica, Liberia, Paraguay, Rwanda) -Plus 1 emergency return for reasons unknown

An ADSBx map showing 35 planes flying all over the Americas and Africa, emanating out of Louisiana and TexasAn ADSBx map showing North and Central America, showing roundup flights to northern cities, about a dozen removal flights to central America and the Caribbean.A closeup of Alexandria, La, showing GlobalX's N966AD taking off and then quickly returning to the airport.

Again the fact that this guy is getting published in the Wall Street Journal indicates a kind of institutional derangement redolent of the the backlash to the Reconstruction and the fact that he’s using his position to characterize himself as a fearless truth-teller is less laughable than obscene

How I Became the Scapegoat in the Jason Arday Affair
I have been smeared as a racist and threatened with violence. My university suspended me. All I did was tell the truth.

if you tell me "A is a bully on social media(/in print, in whatever specific scenario) but very pleasant elsewhere" you are roughly 50x likelier to convince me that they have the additional vice of cowardice than you are to convince me that they have a hidden virtue of kindness

One of the things us an industry need to stop doing is perpetuating the 'they say this on social media, but they're a sweetheart in real life' about awful people I've had other journos say this to me about some of the most pernicious grifters over the years, some of who crossed many lines this week

The NY Times writes that “Trump’s promises to restore fiscal order and reduce the amount of America’s debt burden have been hampered by spending on the Iran war, tax cuts and tariff refunds.” As if it’s just a run of bad luck instead of an ongoing con job against the American people.

U.S. Debt Hits $40 Trillion as America’s Borrowing Binge Continues
President Trump’s promises to restore fiscal order and reduce the amount of America’s debt burden have been hampered by spending on the Iran war, tax cuts and tariff refunds.

Glad to see some reporting on this. When I first posted on July 17 about these incidents where an airline worker is asked or tricked into helping ICE, person who told me was too afraid of being identifiable for me to report it out. Bottom line: If you are not a citizen, do not use US air travel rn.

I saw video this week from another major airport of a woman being taken by plainclothes ICE after an airline worker paged them to the ticket counter.
Worker clearly didn't know it was ICE asking them to page and was upset. They follow, asking ICE for a warrant & woman who they can call for her.

“I know this is going to sound extremely radical, or crazy,” she recounted telling the woman, “but ICE is there at the gate, and they're looking for you."

No, he took a swing at the president, noting that the president would rather spend time with her on his plane than do his job. If I complain that my son is spending all his time at the beach instead of doing chores, I am not actually "taking a swing at the beach"

Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is up for reelection in November, took a swing at Natalie Harp, President Donald Trump’s executive assistant. CNN’s Betsy Klein explains who Harp is and how her relationship with the president has evolved over the years. Read more: https://cnn.it/4gffjRx
