this is profound and irreparable damage my soul has taken I miss when airbrushing was the problem, when the worst someone could get accused of was tracing, when juxtaposition was so wild that someone had to have crafted it in an imaging program but at least someone had to CRAFT the image
Davis Bickford@davis.social · 2d agoone thing I miss from the pre-genAI days is that there was no questioning that human nonsense was simply human nonsense. a dog piloting a plane? some silly human toiled over that in photoshop. now, when something is nonsensical, we question if it’s ai and don’t get to enjoy it the same way.

The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.
“These bigots really want to look at your daughters’ genitals” needs to keep being repeated loudly to the ears of anyone on the fence about this. Leave these kids the fuck alone.
