It's release day for THE DRAGON HAS SOME COMPLAINTS! Garrodigh is a wild dragon who pretends to be tame so he can eat for free at the local dragon-riding academy. But what's waiting for him up there is far stranger than he imagines. I'm so proud of my dragon for finally escaping into the world!

Just got so scared reading my horror book that I had to take a break, at which point I realized I’d been rocking my torso forward and backward. Goddamn, I love good writing. (I’m finally reading The Luminous Dead by @caitlinstarling.com and I’m very sad I’m nearly done reading all of her books.)

@caitlinstarling.com, you will always be famous!!!!!! What a ghastly fucking book I just devoured. Please, read The Starving Saints ASAP it will enthrall you and bond you into reading all of it in one sitting. I partially choose to read this because I couldn’t really eat—what exquisite gore! 10/10

I started The Starting Saints by Caitlin Starling and I love it! Reminds me of Gormenghast, but with cannibalism, naturally :)))

I HAVE FINISHED THE CUT OF THE LUMINOUS DEAD V.O.D.! Now to go through and polish, make sure it all makes sense, and tweak audio and color correction as needed. (One of my three cameras is never gonna exactly match the other two, and I just need to accept that.)

updates: still no word from the living expenses folks at insurance, love that. most of the demo is complete, revealing a lot less damage than there could have been. still pretty surreal. hopefully we’ll be back in sooner than originally expected since they didn’t have to rip out the kitchen.

A photograph of the gutted living room space of my house. Drywall is down, insulation exposed, subfloor exposed. Lots of drying fans and dehumidifiers.

Slow going today. About 1/4 of the way there. Each of these clips on this nested timeline is a multicam sequence with 2-3 cameras... so first I edited each of those multicam tracks to pick the best shots, and now I'm editing them into the final cut.

Premiere timeline for Act 2 of The Luminous Dead.

well… I’m glad we liked our water remediation folks we had to hire a month ago or whenever that was… (upstairs toilet water supply line broke sometime in the last 24 hours, per our amazing cat sitter who is trying to get things drying while I sit on a 5 hour plane trip wanting to scream)

Rough cut of Act 1 of The Luminous Dead is complete! It's built entirely from footage from the 6/6 performance. There are a couple dozen inserts I want to do with shots from other performances, then final color grading to better match the different cameras. But first onto the rough cut of Act 2!

A screenshot of Adobe premiere where I'm working on the edit of The Luminous Dead.

I got to see the show yesterday and it was both wildly surreal and deeply cool. The stage crew is also Isolde’s team is also the cave itself and it adds SO. MUCH. mostly my thoughts are incoherent screaming but wow Andrew and co did an amazing job

We had our first full dress run of The Luminous Dead tonight. More tech work and final dress on Sunday. Very excited to share this with audiences on Tuesday.

A photo of The Luminous Dead on stage! Gyre is in a caving suit with light up helmet contemplating horrors while a maybe ghost looks on.

One of the cool challenges in adapting The Luminous Dead is crafting a space that can fully transform under light and projection. Here you can see a moment at Camp 2 where Gyre's suit's reconstruction of the chamber is incomplete. (Photo by scenic designer Sarah Beth Hall).

Gyre sits on a shelf with a false color projection of a cave behind her... Half of the projection is wire frame, the rest is more complete.
