INSANE discussion of the CEOs think Katie Wilson invented crime letter over on X. I checked the up to date crime dashboards for homicide stats and we are way ahead of most big cities and crime is falling very, very fast!

The mayor was absolutely right to call it grandstanding and politicking. We need Councilmembers to work with the mayor, rather than use public safety as a cudgel against her in a desperate effort to get themselves reelected next year.

If anything, non-bus traffic is flowing *better* eastbound on Denny since the changes were made. Removing the I-5 traffic, eliminating the Dexter left turn, and hardening and lengthening the left turn lane to Fairview have all made a big difference.

This is *precisely* what is happening: a concerted effort by a right-wing media to attack and destroy a progressive mayor. They don’t want her to be able to implement a popular agenda.

Mayor Wilson managed, in the first year of her term, to do something that has eluded 30 years of previous mayors. I’m 50. The eastbound 8 has been delayed along Denny during rush hour during my entire adult life. Not anymore.

I am proud of Mayor Wilson for prioritizing universal school meals for Seattle’s kids. This feels really huge and I hope it will inspire other leaders to fight for children in a similar capacity.

We’re seeing this over and over again - including tonight in Florida, where Angie Nixon has handily won despite being outspent 16:1 — voters really really really don’t like being told what to do, and they don’t like big money trying to buy their votes.

Appreciate Ron for basically airing to the general public what political insiders in Seattle already know. Worth a read if you want to understand why the Stranger was bought, how endorsements work, and if you want progressive campaigns like Ron's to succeed in the future.

Given the high legal standard for recall campaigns in Washington, I think there should be some bar to reporting on a recall petition rather than simply "it was filed."

Again, my point is that the way this is being framed to the casual reader is to imply something that isn’t happening. “Charges were filed to recall Mayor Wilson” has a clearly different meaning than “A petition was filed to recall Mayor Wilson.”
