Margaret Hamilton, the groundbreaking researcher who helped create the field of software engineering and whose code helped land NASA’s Apollo astronauts on the moon, has died. She was 90. https://cnn.it/4jI4LxB
look we are too corrupt and ignorant to regulate so it's up to a collection of foppish, pasty sociopaths in overpriced sneakers to hold themselves accountable for killing everyone with monopolized cloud computing
Rick Scott: "With regard to destroying mankind, these companies need to do the right thing on their own. We're not going to get smart enough to regulate them. We're not going to get something done up here."

DoorDash, in damage control mode, now claims it supports D.C. home rule and denies lobbying against it. Here’s the letter their lobbyist wrote to Rep. Comer supporting his bill to ban D.C. from ever imposing or increasing a tax or fee without congressional approval. hillheat.com/files/492/DD...
For the last year and a half, DoorDash has been silent as delivery drivers in DC have been hunted in the streets and even killed by ICE and other federal police. Now, the company has come out in support of #HR9720 — the blatant attack on DC Home Rule — just so it can earn more money.
Check out this ongoing thread. Gonna have to dedicate the whole of 2028’s graduating class of accountants to audit where the money went during this administration.
A new granite walkway. Refinishing the wall to glue those hideous gold accents. Trump claimed he was paying for all of it. He lied. They’ve been looting the National Parks.
“…the high-water mark for Democrats when it comes to both popularity at the polls and achievements in office – was one in which communists, socialists and other assorted radicals had considerable influence.”
Quick post at CAMPAIGN TRAILS on the idiocy of liberals punching left.
"The study found that resettled refugees contribute $6 billion more to the U.S. economy than they take out. Per year. The Trump administration did exactly what you’d expect: They suppressed the study, and then they lied about it."

I’ve found “Startpage” to be a really good alternative, especially for research questions. No AI, it’s private, and it gives useful results.
Google is transforming Search from a list of links into an AI-powered experience filled with conversational answers, autonomous agents, and interactive interfaces — a shift that could further reduce traffic to publishers across the web.
It's not hyperbole in the least to say Musk purchased a six-month shadow presidency for $280 million and used the power of that shadow presidency to 1. Steal the government’s data, 2. Permanently damage the state’s ability to regulate his businesses, and 3, kill non-white people.
Still feel like "Musk and his crew of incels destroyed a bunch of stuff they didn't understand and thereby hastened the deaths of millions of children" did not get the public attention it warranted.
This is amazing and it does make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. We've all heard plenty of dead men's voices but this is *Robert* *Johnson*.
Holy SHIT someone found the test pressing of Robert Johnson's Cross Road Blues and it is clear as a PIN www.openculture.com/2026/04/reco...
Tulip bulbs. Just replace "AI" with "tulip bulbs" and that will tell you where we are.
Everything is fucking dumb all the time now

TIL - both about spandex and sideburns.
Omg. Spandex is an anagram for expands.
Tax invisibility is a scourge in our politics > Public childcare isn't free, it's tax-funded. > People buying $34 burgers pay taxes. > Believe $34 burger eaters should pay more? wait until you hear about this idea "progressive taxation" Wow, problem solved, thanks taxes! 😀

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.

You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her. Rosetta Nubin better known as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock was born on this day
