i don't like to police genre, but it's not dark academia unless somebody gets squished in one of these bad boys
i don’t want responsibilities i want to sit under a willow tree all day
I have found my new favourite meme response for slopists. Ahahahahaha 🤣
something i’ve learned in fandom spaces is you gotta have a moment of going “oh my god who the hell cares” and not worry about stuff that isn’t like, someone being nasty and bigoted. 90% of the time it’s not worth it.
A fun thing I am learning about myself is that "overwhelmed" may be more a default state than something I feel sometimes
I did what I would consider to be a minimal amount of Things this weekend and yet I am very tired
Episode 2: Twenty Years Some friendships weather like mountains. Time leaves its mark, but not every bond is broken by it. Inspired by Elrond and Durin's friendship. #TROPRewatch
New Prints Now Available of "Elwing borne up out of the waves" - one of the most striking and liminal moments of tragedy and hope unlooked-for in The Silmarillion. More details in comments. Prints here: www.miriamellis.com/product-page... #Tolkien #Elwing #TheSilmarillion
I may write slow, read slow and brainstorm like a sloth with attention issues taking the scenic route to get to a point. But at least I'm using my own brain to do it.
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
I love that small scene of Galadriel in the middle of the wide ocean, looking up at the stars-- for guidance, one assumes. Both in the navigational sense, because they're her only indication of where she is and which way to swim, and maybe in terms of faith. Like Sam in Mordor. #TROPRewatch
Had a lil fun today - May we never see Nolan’s take on Idril, but I think if he made that movie this is what the poster would be like. Just Eöl being thrown off of the walls of Gondolin.
Gandalf entering Halfling territory in a wheeled cart, echoing, in true chiastic structure, both the start and end of Lord of the Rings. Although in that work he’s slightly more dignified than being passed out in a wheelbarrow… #TROPRewatch
Have reached a Relevant (to fandom) point in the History of Middle Earth
My kingdom if Arondir says something to the effect of, "I can't leave you to go off alone with this orc," and Galadriel says, "Uruk." (Marnûkh is like, "It's Marnûkh, actually.")
To be fair to Galadriel, he does kind of look like a silver clam.
🚨NEW Look at Jamie Campbell Bower as CELEBORN #TheRingsOfPower
Or, per Marcus Aurelius: bsky.app/profile/ralt...
general reminder that you absolutely do not need to have an opinion on everything. social media just makes you think you should. "i don't know enough about this to have an opinion" is one of the most liberating thoughts you can have in the modern world.
When Gandalf finally does leave Rhûn, I hope he leaves a huge clusterfuck behind him, in order to justify and make hilarious the part of LOTR where he's like, "I'm called Gandalf in the North, Mithrandir in the South, Olorin in the West--" "And what about Ea--" "I DO NOT GO EAST."
!!! "Keep it" omg 😍 How gloriously painful is it going to be if she's been just missing him all this time. What if he was at Forodwaith. What if he was in the Southlands.
#TROPSPOILERS More about Galadriel and Celeborn via Empire!
It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society
