Imagine being talented and beautiful and rich and famous and still the most noteworthy thing about you is how good a person you are.

Sometimes, when someone dies, what helps me is thinking about how wonderful it is that they were even alive in the first place. Dolly was the closest you could get to an American saint. We all loved her.

the thing about indie games is that if someone designs one single game I love, I’ll get whatever they make for the rest of their lives and pretty much always have a good time. people are so attached to ip but imo you really gotta know the creators.

Lake Ontario's name comes from the Wyandot word Ontarí'io, which is typically translated as "beautiful lake". The Kanienʼkéha called it Katarokwi. Samuel de Champlain called it Lac de St. Louis. The name Lacus Ontario was first recorded in 1660 by Francis Creuxius.

PS. This morning, CBC radio approached us to ask if Jenn would like to speak about the impact of tariffs on small, Canadian business. If you'd like to tune in, we're estimating the show will air around 8am EST tomorrow (Aug 25th). Listen, here: www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

Hi Internet! I'm Drew and THIS IS MY FACE. If this GIF has ever brought you joy in the past, I humbly ask you to consider making a donation to the National MS Society. It would mean a lot to me and to those I know affected by the disease! Donate at blinkingguy.com

Maybe you think you are invulnerable to this (you are not), but the people who stay in Twitter because you are still sharing there are definitely being dragged to the right. I have so many mutuals who are still posting regularly there, and it's so disheartening to see. Please stop.

Evidence is already accruing that spending time on Twitter pulls ppl to the right, bc the algorithm feeds you horrible stuff. And again: academics are likely more vulnerable, bc they convince themselves they are less.

The stalking and harassment that so many in this industry face is another massive issue. On top of the terrible pay, there are people with a vested interest in trying to destroy people’s livelihoods, and hardly anyone with any power seems interested in standing up for them.

Reposting this from Molly Lee, whose harassment over Slow Damage makes me upset years later. I will die on the hill of that translation. We were lucky that we *didn't* have the roadblocks stopping us from interacting with the original authors that this article talks about, and it *still* happened.

This shit is why you can't separate continuing to financially support the Harry Potter IP (whether by buying the games, merch, watching the new TV show when its out) from the consequences of what JK Rowling does with that money She's become so stiflingly powerful that even private docs arent safe

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottom

(content warning) posting it here because i don't want to make a big fuss of it, but I just got access to the fake support messages someone wrote using my contact email and this is so fucking exhausting like this is literally what its like trying to exist online as a trans person
