Hands down one of the best pieces of writing on the interweb: "Trump can hurt Canada, no argument. He’s got the pen, the podium, and a Congress with all the spine of a warm meat pie. But picture the same bloke after he’s been belted from arsehole to breakfast in the midterms"

This explainer out of Australia is genuinely useful background and analysis of what happened with the Canada-US trade deal last night. Note that it is extremely and delightfully sweary. Also there’s an appended glossary of Australian slang. ifloz.substack.com/p/king-carne...

One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26

Photo after Jason's final marathon taken from his archived blog showing Jason surrounded by supporters in orange charity t-shirts

Love a good fan blog, #NUFC, but if I've got to navigate a thesis on cookies/marketing prefs with unclear buttons before contending with a thousand or so pop-ups that hijack my Spotify feed and make the content totally unreadable, then I'm out 😫

A professor writes: (Jason Stanley) The problem is that journalists failed to do basic journalism. Not a single reporter seems to have checked’ Jason Arday’s citations. The ‘quantifiable metrics’ of his work. Prof Stanley did: ‘Arday is easily comparable to the leading scholars in the field’

One of the things us an industry need to stop doing is perpetuating the 'they say this on social media, but they're a sweetheart in real life' about awful people I've had other journos say this to me about some of the most pernicious grifters over the years, some of who crossed many lines this week

Spent 45 mins on hold yesterday trying to navigate a ticketing error on the #NUFC site. Got great tix for the West Brom game. 15 mins later looked at the calendar & realised on holiday! D'oh!!! Now need to spend another 45 mins on hold for a refund. I literally am an idiot sarny.

Like most populist myths, the doc imposes binaries based on concocted threats to 'the good old days'. Is ADHD real? Idiotic question, of course it is. Do social structures make it disabling - yes! Medical/social models aren't mutually exclusive as Pemberton would have us believe.

I see Channel 4 televised 'The Great ADHD Myth' last night, led by Daily Mail doctor Max Pemberton. Sigh, FFS, etc. inews.co.uk/culture/tele...
