Free programming idea for CBC. "Talking to Canadians" follows US ambassador Pete Hoekstra as he travels across Canada, meeting and insulting Canadians from Peggy's Cove to Whitehorse. Highlights include the cast of Shoresy in Sudbury having to be restrained by the RCMP from beating him to a pulp.

A crucial thing about Bluesky was that the scientific community migrated to it en masse as soon as it opened its doors. There are left wing scientists and right wing scientists and scientists who try to pay no attention to politics. What they all have in common is that they are rationalists.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Good question. The answer is that not paying Trump buys you a whole lot of trouble. The money you spend on legal representation suddenly goes through the roof. You have to hire lawyers to fend off federal prosecutors. Why do you think the big law firms were the first to fold?

"I will never understand why these huge corporations refuse to acknowledge objective reality: paying Trump doesn’t buy you anything. All it does is teach him that you’re willing to pay, and next time, he’ll get you to pay more."

🛩️ v 🏖️ People who aren’t used to winning, won. At the same time, people who often win lost for once. The losers are throwing tantrums. Winners should take the win to heart because it truly belongs to them & no one else. My column on this remarkable grassroots mobilization in @thestar.com

Shawn Micallef: The Billy Bishop expansion pause was a real win for the people. But don’t put away those No Jets signs just yet

The federal government’s decision to pause the Billy Bishop expansion means that people who often win lost for once — are taking it badly.

I've just updated my starter pack of independent Canadian media outlets. I'm keen to see what @thewatchdog.ca has to offer. go.bsky.app/7ce9PDR

Hey everyone, I have some news: I'm creating a new project today called @thewatchdog.ca The Watchdog's editorial mission is to protect the public and defend democracy through original public interest watchdog journalism. Sign up here as it gets ready to launch: www.thewatchdog.ca/p/sign-up

I've noticed a new trick they're trying. I was at a Loblaws store recently where they'd removed country origin labels from signage. Is the broccoli from México or California? No idea. At least the apples had Washington state stickers. But most people probably wouldn't look so closely. #cdnpoli
