‘You’re not suggesting I take it off, surely?’ I said with a smile. They all fell about at this. I remember looking at John; he had a big pimple on his bottom, and Paul next to him, both of them surprisingly hairless in the chest area. One of them, John I think, made as if to take his own tie off there and then. We all laughed – typical John, as I later found out. George grinned and went to the other extreme, fanning out the two ends of his tie to give himself more coverage. Pete was right at the back, head down, saying nothing. I could just see his hairy leg poking out from the end of the mixing console. There’s not much more to tell about that occasion really, I just remember shaking each of them by the hand as they left, and watching as this line of eight buttocks disappeared off down the corridor. I've been wondering for a while as to the identity of That Lad From Magical Mystery Tour Who Looks Like Zammo Off Grange Hill and thanks to this picture (courtesy of www.instagram.com/beatlesresea...) I now know it's someone called Michael Gladden.
It's a wolf! Sort of! With the colour palette of the Rubber Soul cover. Am I going to draw galloping strange wolves for every Beatles album? Of course I am, come on now.

“Stay out of it Lennon!” McCartney thundered. “Or I’ll bundle you too! This reedy-voiced villain has scuppered our contract chances - and he’s snooped my cake!” “Yaroooo! It wasn’t me!” sobbed Harrison. “All I said was that Beaky Martin had a stinker of a tie!”
“I’ll box you for this Harrison!” said McCartney, unaware of the fact that Best had crouched low behind his ankles. Dancing nimbly into the fray, Lennon down on McCartney’s gown.

I’d had the idea back in ’58: I’d wear something to provoke a reaction and see if any artistes…reacted. What I was looking for was a spirit of…I was never sure actually, but I always felt I’d know it when I saw it.
I spent three weekends combing the department stores, looking for the right thing. At the end of the third weekend I saw it – hanging there by itself on a rail in Liberty’s. I spent a while looking at it from different angles. It really was absolutely awful. Unpleasant mix of colours, with an unappealing horse motif. Looked sort of pompous but also seedy at the same time. I bought it immediately.

(a) If you’re going to have a scene with only two speaking parts, they can’t both be called George. The producer character’s pretty much a bit part – something else perhaps? Harry? Dave? (b) We’re not clear about motivations in this scene – does the producer character like these ‘Beatles’ or not? Seems a bit hot and cold tbh. (c) He’s laying into them and they just sit there and…take it? In the previous fifteen pages you’ve shown us this edgy band. Stealing instruments, beating up sailors, setting fire to cinemas. No audience is going to believe these guys just sit there get told off like a bunch of schoolboys. Finally (d) You’re not going to like this, but…we’re really not happy about the punchline. ‘I don’t like your tie’.
