I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

This is what it’s like in Massachusetts, too. The air smells heavily of smoke. This never happened when I was growing up. Now it happens every summer. This doesn’t have to be our future.

Well, the temperature in the Pacific Ocean along the Nino 3.4 region of the equator has shot up so high, so fast, that they have had to expand the chart. So no, we've never measured or experienced anything like it. Watch for the next incoming record deadly heat dome.
