This is called a ‘hudd’ and was used in the 18th century for the priest to stand in when conducting graveside services in wet weather. The Wingfield hudd is one of just two in East Anglia. There's another at Walpole St Peter in Norfolk. #History #HistoryMatters

#TombTuesday Taversoe Tuick Chambered Cairn on the island of Rousay, Orkney. One of several Neolithic chambered cairns located on the southern shore of the island facing out across the Eynhallow and Wyre Sounds.
Happisburgh Church had another Woodwose font! A rather demonic demon dragon st george kneeler and an interesting ceramic memorial.
The monument to Sir Thomas Parkyns at St Mary's, Bunny is one I've long wanted to see. Designed by Sir Thomas himself before his death in 1741 it shows him in wrestling pose, ready to take anyone on! Whilst on the right death has taken him on and 'thrown him' #MonumentsMonday

Holy Trinity, Bottisham, Cambridgeshire #SteepleSaturday Largely early‑14C Decorated Gothic parish church that sits on a site of 12/13C origins. Tradition credits the 14C rebuild to Elias de Beckingham, Justice of the Common Pleas under Edward I, his lost brass once marked his tomb in the nave.
