writing indulgent Emmrich/Rook saucy fic and came to the question: Do clocks exist in Dragon Age? the answer is barely relevant but I determined that Emmrich would be so good at keeping time since he lives somewhere without the sun cycle.
Demanding that story characters react in certain ways because they think any "messy" reactions from characters is "normalizing" shit is such a wild & unrealistic take. Messy is already the norm. Real people react in messy ways- exploring that in fiction shouldn't be censored
If a writer understands the ways a peice can be read and *chooses to tell it anyway* that is a CHOICE they have the right to make. We can all be upset about that choice, and "educate" them about it. But once they are aware and choose to do it anyway, our CHOICE then can be to just not read them.
I talk to new writers about this this kind of "feedback" a lot. I've had folks point out many things they feel are harmful or bad tropes or contributing to erasure/stereotypes in my books. What I have to ask myself is: is this still true to the vision/xp *I* have for the book?
I'm not going to tag Ursula in this (though she's welcome to reply) because my thread isn't going to be about the Astarion book or if BG3 is a "horny" game or any of that nonsense. Instead, this is about the online demands for the perfect rape victim in fiction. (thread)
there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.
Generative AI is the tool and aesthetic of fascism, and that aesthetic only appeals to middle aged divorced sex predators, billionaires, guys who drive cybertrucks, and guys who don't tip. It's the aesthetic of losers, miserable assholes, and guys with a sexual allegations section in their wiki.
oh your entire industry is crumbling because of externalities outside your control? Have you thought of starting a patreon so that you have to do a bunch of extra work on top of that?
Trying to draw the egg on my lunch break #dragonage If I wanna see art of Solas and my Rook kissing, I must do it myself. (And do some proper studies on some screenshots)
Did a fast doodle of Paige Deadlock from memory before my shift started
since kingdom hearts is in the news, have a classic doodle
I need this energy going forward because it’s so hard for me to stay positive about anything art related at my current age.🥲
Sometimes it takes a villain, to show us who the real villains are.
marvel rivals is probably the ugliest game of all time. something deeply upsetting about the disney approved porn brained yet completely sexless ken doll aesthetic. nasty vibes. especially when anyone actually making games genuinely about sex is being debanked and banned
Thinking, as I often do, about this tumblr post
watching cis people repeatedly fail to find a way to counter the conservatives' emphasis on sex and thus watch them hopelessly struggle as conservatives bring back extremely invasive "sex testing" and defund or destroy women's organizations and social spaces is so. wow lol

It's crazy how even in animals a completely like. Normal and commonplace biological chemical is demonised and treated as a source of evil "Testosterone makes this animal ANGRY and TERRITORIAL and UNPREDICTABLE and MEAN" and it's like. Ok. Chill out. The animal has evolved those behaviours
