Night eyes 😎 Finally got proper pictures of this amazing phenomenon! Mantises change their eye color (and light sensitivity) at night by transporting pigments from the surface of each compound eye unit toward the deeper eye region. Same female Tenodera sinensis, two different times. #bugsky
Take a break from being depressed that everything you love is being destroyed by slop for a moment and let me tell you about the beautiful symbiotic relationship between graffiti writers, train yard workers, and model train enthusiasts.
Art is a conversation between human beings. We create art to connect with people, to enlighten, to bring joy or spark questions. Art crosses oceans, it bends time, it enables us to see the humanity of people with whom we share no language except the glory of making things.
Coastal Northern California. My most favorite landscape in the world. Shot on a Yashica T4
17th century Dutch painter Cornelis Kick’s still-life of a lemon and pink roses on a pewter plate contrasts the colours of epehemeral life with a timeless dark background (Ashmolean Museum, Oxford)
The space between all things. Everything dances in #Iceland. The place where the planet smells freshly baked. If the earth doesn't knock you down with its swaying, the wind will. The only way to stay upright is through dance.
I am LIVING for these. The graphic design on showcase alone, my god. Thank you for your public service.
holy shit, I just found an incredible archive of UFO zines and magazines from around the world, some dating back to the 1950s. this is like Christmas come early. though also I have got so much to do right now so this absolutely could not have come at a worse time 🥴 files.afu.se/Downloads/?d...

nearly all graphic novels of note are made by a comic creator with a college degree nowadays. most low income kids aren't able to attend college.
i was just thinking about how ppl who don’t go to college are shut out of the resources necessary to make creative work happen

if you look real close at culture you'll see that most creators come from middle to upper middle class backgrounds. the poor are written about A LOT. but don't get no chance to speak for ourselves. obviously this creates wonky misshapen caricatures.
so many of my photos from Kowloon turned out blurry (my point n' shoot kinda does whatever it wants) but I kinda like it. Captures the feel of that whole time there really well during a strange, surreal time. I disappeared quickly into those alleyways whenever the riot police advanced.
wet market in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, 2019. Incidentally, I was there at the same time that the 2019-2020 Hong Kong mass protests were happening. One of the most intense things I've experienced, and I've seen a lot.
