But a rabidly anti-intellectual culture wherein asking about whether a proposed means is the best way to achieve social ends is... well it would destroy socialism, utterly. In fact I think the failure of previous socialist states are not unrelated to developing this exact culture.
A couple of weeks ago I rode to Newburyport MA and saw this COVID memorial and realized this is the only one I have ever seen anywhere. And the fact that I nearly broke down seeing it is something I still think about.
to clarify even further, on neither of these occasions were there any nearby crowds, disturbances, or concerning activity. just totally normal park enjoyment going on and we're paying for this bullshit

Elect me Mayor of Chicago and there will be abundant bathrooms cleaned by a 24 hour staff that all earn six figures. There will be a law that the worst paid bathroom cleaner earns twice as much as the highest paid cop and we'll just fire the highest paid cop until the math works out.

Even then it was almost not worth it! We need more public bathrooms but few people talk about the maintenance that entails

This Disability Pride I would like to remind everyone that some disabilities being invisible remains true when the person in question is riding a bicycle, & that disabled people who cannot drive &/ do not have access to cars need & deserve to get around easily just as much as those who rely on cars.

climate change means worse, more frequent extreme heat. transportation emissions are a key contributor to climate change. we need mode shifts to reduce emissions. to change mode choices, it needs to be safe and comfortable to wait for the bus. we need shade, seating, and frequent, reliable service
calling it a "teen takeover" or a "teen trend" is so insane to me because people are supposed to go use the parks, actually. that's kinda the whole fucking point
