Trump is trying to pull off a US-style version of the Tiananmen Square Massacre coverup where everyone in China who remembered what happened on June 4, 1989 knows *exactly* what they must not admit and is utterly terrified to speak the truth. I never imagined seeing such abject cowardice in the US.

😮 Trump's nominees are the most pathetic men in the world 😮 During a hearing, Blumenthal made Trump nominees squirm by asking them who won the 2020 election -- a question they refuse to answer -- but then Schiff upped the ante by asking them *who won the 2016 election.* Here's a supercut:

If we fully fund the renovation, we will never get a dime out of Dundon ever. He's the bully demanding payment to cross the street. And so many people are insisting we need to pay the bully

7) What is actually happening on ICE flights is already so bad! When you make shit up or “just ask questions,” you: a) Take the focus off real people who are SCREAMING for help about real abuses, b) Ignore actions YOU could be taking TODAY to try to relieve their suffering.

Please for the love of God, stop telling me about Pinochet’s death flights and suggesting ICE is doing them. 1) The doors on the charter jets ICE uses cannot be opened midflight. It is physically impossible. 2) Even if depressurized, the door would fly off and/or bodies get sucked into engines

A trans couple has been brutalized by a mob, and then the trans woman ended up being arrested afterwards, at a public bathroom in Louisiana. EITM writer S Baum investigates this horrible act of violence in our latest piece. www.erininthemorning.com/p/trans-coup...

Trans Couple Brutalized At Louisiana Park Bathroom, Then Charged By Police

An angry mob allegedly beat them. The police charged them. The municipality voted for one of the most severe anti-trans bathroom ordinances in the country.

This is the tactic going forward: buy these “turnkey” facilities from GEO Group, CoreCivic, LaSalle, etc., and then turn around and contract them out for operations. The prison contractors make a pretty penny off the sale and ops contracts. ICE gets to run supremacy laps around state laws.

Data centres here in Ireland accounted for nearly a quarter of all electricity usage last year (a FIVE-fold increase in ten years)! AND these companies get a discounted electricity rate which is subsidised by us ordinary domestic users 😡 www.rte.ie/news/busines...

Data centres account for 23% of electricity usage - CSO

The percentage share of total metered electricity consumption used by data centres rose to 23% in 2025 up from 22% in 2024 and just 5% in 2015.

This is the right thing to say and I wholeheartedly support it and believe it but it is frustrating and aggravating that he's been saying this for months and months and, like Mamdani, some people on here take this as a rhetorical pivot after the primary rather than just sincerity.

El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"

Most people are primed to believe that censorship and surveillance lead to more safety. Anytime we get into a debate between "freedom" and "safety" we are always going to lose. The digital rights movement needs to chart a new path and show how we can stop Big Tech without trashing human rights.

We @fightforthefuture.org and our growing coalition have been beating back these misguided "protect the children" internet censorship and surveillance bills for literally 10+ years. We're good at it! And we can keep doing it. But to really win on this, we have to radically shift the narrative

Here's some more good news from today's hearing: it seems like the SCREEN ACT totally failed. This was one of the most dangerous bills being considered: it would have created an Internet-wide ID check regime that would be a censorship and surveillance nightmare for marginalized communities.

Despite all the rhetoric about "reining in Big Tech" we heard today, it's essential to understand the push for this "kids safety" legislation as something that most Big Tech companies WANT. Microsoft, OpenAI, Snap, X, Apple, and now Meta all support KOSA because it benefits their monopoly status

THREAD: Here's what happened in today's "We are exploiting peoples' legitimate fears around kids online safety to advance dangerous censorship and surveillance legislation" hearing in the Senate Commerce Committee... 🧵

We got some quotes from @wyden.senate.gov about his wild report yesterday about banks withholding suspicious activity reports about Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking empire because they wanted to keep the lucrative relationship. Crazy conduct and Wyden has some good solutions for it.

Sen. Wyden Report: Banks Systematically Ignored Jeffrey Epstein’s Crimes - The American Prospect

The report shows how employees at Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, and JPMorgan helped to hide Epstein’s activities because he was a load-bearing part of their ‘wall of cash.’
