Okay, here’s the dealio: I need 27 more people to sign up for the Twin Cities Bike Tour so I can win a bet. “I already registered!” you say? Cool. What about all of your friends, family, neighbors, contacts, and everyone else you know? I’m sure some of them haven’t. Come on. It’s for charity!

Crop art is kind of indicative of the whole moving to Minnesota thing. At first your like ok art made of seeds that kinda cute. Then, a couple of years later, your like I’ve quit my job and joined a crop art commune. We live in a yurt outside Ely.

If you can’t make it to the fair, there will be three other opportunities to see some MN State Crop Art after the fair. First— Sept. 12-28 Boreal, 2276 Como Ave, St. Anthony Park (close to the fair) They have great gallery space and are welcoming crop art from anyone who exhibited at the fair.

This is the crop art I made for the Minnesota State Fair. In January 2026 I saw a post from Andi of @afinkandink and immediately reached out and asked if I could make a crop art version. She graciously said yes! I got a 3rd place ribbon for my work!

A board covered in painted and natural seeds that says: “Leave Minnesota Aloon” with a loon with its wings spread.A photo of a person taking a photo of crop art on the wall at the Minnesota State Fair. The art is made of painted and natural colored seeds and says “Leave Minnesota Aloon”A Instagram post by @afinkandink of the digital art she made that shows a circle with a the words “Leave Minnesota Aloon” Ana a loon in the middle of the circle.

When I made this crop art piece I was thinking a lot about the fawn response to trauma, and how often women find ourselves doing this “it’s okay, I’m not mad!” thing when faced with abusive men in unsafe situations. I wish we knew more about Renee Good than just her last words to her murderer.
