I wonder if its because we need some sort of safe outlet to feel all the terrible, life threatening daily terrors we are forced to live with? Maybe feel some kind if catharsis when the untenable evils and billionares are defeated or recieve any kind of comeuppance? Nah thats dumb its obviously satan

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

Friction is so important to creative work that people *add* friction to allow themselves to do it. Just one example: meter, in poetry. You create a framework that restricts you, that limits you, in order to give your thoughts a scaffold within which to build.

the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

The last time we were taxing the wealthy their fair share we got interstates and a moonshot. Maybe if we tax them again we can get rail and Mars.

Exactly right. Mediocre white men love AI for this very reason. They can't do the work but need the praise and are unwilling to learn. Can't learn Photoshop can't even learn Paint. Can't learn how to write an interesting sentence, can't make a joke. Outsourcing being a person.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...
