people keep getting this wrong. a softlock is if a game is technically continuing to function, but it is in a state where it is impossible to progress (e.g. idaho). if it's entered a state where core functions don't work anymore and you can't reset out (e.g. florida) that's a hardlock.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

When I worked in a small town computer store circa 2003, we called this stuff "malware," and most of our customers paid us to get it off their machines. They just remade BonzaiBuddy while telling us it's good now.

CEO Dan Clancy says Twitch now uses AI to identify streamers that may not match a brand, since it now transcribes all streams for brand safety. It won't show ads on channels or content the AI believes don't match what the advertiser is trying to achieve.

Lately a lot of AI "discourse" has been going around in the Pokemon romhacking community. For a bit, things seemed to be on the right track, but it was instantly backpedaled which really disappointed me. Anyways Too Many Productions has never, and will never use AI for our projects. I hate AI.
