metaphor literacy is low even among committed readers but it’s starting to become more of a concern for me as people are flagging “incomprehensible metaphors” as tells for AI. the problem being that in many of those cases the metaphors aren’t incomprehensible at all!

Graham Platner embodies a concept that in 2016 we didn’t have words for so “Bernie Bro” made the most sense. It had nothing to do with Bernie but was an attempt to describe a man who outwardly espouses progressive values but hates women more than he cares about anything else.

We all have the ability to make the world a better place, each in our own way. I think it's fair to say that Anthony Head knew this, recognised it, and did far more than most to live up to the opportunities his fame afforded him in order to put good into this world whenever and wherever he could.

CBS made it official today and fired Sharyn Alfonsi. This is after Alfonsi revealed that the network and Bari Weiss hadn't responded to her for months as her contract expired. It's also after Alfonsi was cheered at last night's Emmys, while Bari was called out by a kid for destroying the network.

Mamdani: I cannot help but think of the words of our 40th president, Ronald Reagan. He famously said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are 'I'm from the govt & I'm here to help'" I think nine more terrifying words are actually, "I worked all day and can't feed my family"

The damage done when most "nerdy news" sites either went under or switched to AI is a lot more profound than most people realize. You know what websites stuck it out? All the right wing grifter ones. They realized how important it is to control the pop culture narrative. And now they do. It's bad!

Some of the worst political influencers and people who get paid to shill pseudo journalistic political content online got their start smearing women like Amber Heard and Blake Lively and were largely ignored by mainstream media as they built massive audiences off misogyny. Pop culture matters!
