That one (They/Them)

Keir Starmer is a bad person who used his power to make the United Kingdom a more unequal place and dismantle the possibility of opposing oppression and genocide, and to drive trans people from public life. If you think he is decent, I have news for you about your own moral judgement.

If you think Keir Starmer is a 'decent' person, you need to speak to the many, many minorities his government has targeted mercilessly. You can't speak to all of them, however, because many of them are dead because of choices Keir Starmer's government made

Also, laying the blame so fully on Musk - who is absolutely a dangerous and contemptible racist creep - is very convenient for the UK's newspapers, news channels and politicians who've either spread the self-same racist myths, 24/7, for decades, or have entirely abandoned any pushback against them.

I think we have to be careful about crediting Musk with power he doesn't have. That way you help feed the myth of being the omnipotent all-powerful puppet master that controls everything that happens in the world. That's the main psychological con-trick they use to make opponents give up in advance.

no other way to say it, this thing in the uk where every single time a non-white person is in the news being accused of a crime we have full on race riots is very very bad

Let’s be clear: we have annihilated crazy ideas like “let’s plant some nice trees, make a free-to-use broadband network and have a government factory making generic drugs”, apparently so we could have racist rioting, chat about civil war, genital checks at toilets and protection for genocidaires.

It's not even a case of "too little, too late." They are fundamentally untrustworthy because, while they might not like what's going on right now, if it comes down to a choice of a left winger or a fascist we know exactly what they will choose, every time.

not going to say there's zero value in Starmer coming out against Farage and the far right today but I will say any statements from him have been significantly, if not fatally devalued by his utter failure to deal with this stuff for the past *two years*. you can't fan these flames then play fireman

Remember: when faced with the prospect of massive losses to the far right and smaller losses to a more left wing but still totally normal party, the Labour right and British press chose all-out war against the left. And they will keep doing this forever.

Prediction: the flurry of anti-Green stuff in the last couple of weeks will slightly stem Labour losses in leftish areas whilst they still get creamed by Reform elsewhere, Labour take this an endorsement of their strategy somehow

Important to remember: "maybe MPs shouldn't be so drunk at work they stink of booze all day" and "maybe the met shouldn't literally kick people repeatedly on the head while they're on the ground" getting the full bore outrage cannons isn't about the specifics, it's about the left being illegitimate.

This is the inevitable endpoint of one of the truly unifying political projects of the 2010s: ensuring that comically bigoted far right crackpots should decide what is and is not racist, a thing almost the entire political/class bent their will towards.

The AI issue isn’t just that it produces increasingly sophisticated slop meant to fool us & devalue labor, it’s that on the human end we’ve cultivated a population of people who see no inherent value in the authenticity of what they consume as they are culturally illiterate. So they’re Slop Hungry.

I'm deadly serious with this. A huge reason we're in the mess we're in is because the media treats evidenced policy like housing the homeless and decriminalising drugs as absurd, outrageous nonsense, and "you can't even say blackboard any more because of woke" as serious and meaningful.

Why don't we report that this is plainly absolute fucking bollocks on stilts though? Why does every Winterval and "baa baa rainbow sheep" story have to be treated as if the freaks have a point of view worth considering?

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

We're told all the time there's no fucking magic money tree to invest in public spending and yet these pricks are throwing away money hand over fist on actively making everything worse, hurting free speech, expanding genocide, fucking our healthcare and privacy.
