Watching COOL HAND LUKE tonight and I don’t get it at all. Was this what people watched before it was easy to find gay porn? I’m in awe of George Kennedy - he won an Academy Award for delivering lines like “They don’t know whether to smile, spit, or swallow” with a straight face 🧐

Watching SIRÃT again tonight, but for the first time on a big screen with Dolby Atmos. Whoa. Thinking of the following films right now: WHITE MATERIAL SORCERER 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE AU HASARD BALTHAZAR TROPICAL MALADY BEAU TRAVAIL OUT OF THE PAST FREAKS PSYCHO SÁTÁNTANGÓ THE SEVENTH CONTINENT

just spent nearly an hour on chat and then phone support to get their Apple Music app working on Windows 11 and was amused to see that this POS is still lying around in my library like a dead fly on a discarded uncrustable

I honestly don’t mind traveling to “hot countries” as they’re inevitably well equipped to make it comfortable when it’s hot… but France during a heatwave is borderline intolerable. I’d rather be in Bangkok than the Pyrenees even if outdoors temperatures are the same… this hotel room is stifling, grr

I’m in the middle of Tour de France country right now and yup, the pleasure and fraternity are palpable. It’s right not to make as much money as possible from something that brings so much joy to so many people. Why destroy value for millions to enrich a few?

It is kind of amazing that we have settled on a version of capitalism that leads us into a trash can due to a decision not to price in the public costs of private profits. www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/enshittifi...

For me, the hardest trail I’ve ever done is the Vivian Creek trail up Mount Gorgonio near LA. That’s 29.5 km with 1650 m of elevation gain. Today’s hike was 25 km with 1850 m of elevation gain. I’m kinda exhausted.

Yet another whirlwind visit to London in the books: visited my Dad, had Sunday lunch with two old friends, enjoyed a £1.24 about-to-expire sandwich from Tesco, saw GOODBYE, DRAGON INN, had a pint with another old friend, packed my bags, and headed for the airport

sure, British Airways, I'm definitely interested in paying $132 for 30" seat pitch (less than Southwest!), no lounge access, and no fast-track security (I'm flying out of London City Airport where those things don't exist)

A screen capture from ba.com - British Airways is offering me a business class upgrade for £98.40, promising fast-track through security and access to an airport lounge at an airport where those things don't exist as well as a generous 30 inch seat pitch (less then Southwest here in the USA)

Zipline Brewing was going to host a political event for Pete Ricketts and Ted Cruz on Friday. The staff made noise and promised to quit or skip, so the owners just fired everyone and closed shop. If you miss the wonderful beers of Zipline in the coming weeks and months, you have Ted Cruz to thank.

Screenshot of Ig story from Zipline staffer. Text reads "I am aware of what's happening at Zipline tomorrow and I do not support it in any way, shape, or form. Neither does anyone that works at Zipline.
When AKRS bought the brewery, the founders of Zipline essentially cashed out and bolted, leaving everyone left to clean up the mess. Kevin Clark is going to run this place into the ground spouting his facsist beliefs.
The brewers, packagers, taptenders, and managers are some of the most incredible people I've ever met and they deserve so much more than this."Screenshot of story from later in the day. Text reads "For anyone who's like "what is she talking about "
The brewery my husband worked at was bought a couple years back by a Nebraska Ag company so they could expand their brewing. Turns out they're were terrible people (shock!) and over the past 3 years, they've progressively dug the brewery into the ground.
Today, they walked in and truly RANDOMLY
fired
everyone and shut down the brewery.
The biggest brewery in Nebraska with some of the finest brewers in the state, if not region.
Around 20 people now without work. Out of the blue. Very cool."

These guys know their business, sure, but they've been tasked with the impossible. Paddington 2 scans as if Shakespeare and Moliere both rose from their graves and banged out one last triumph together. Fool's errand to go near a franchise after such work. And no, I'm not being hyperbolic.

Armando Iannucci (‘The Death of Stalin’) and Simon Blackwell (‘Veep’) are writing the script for ‘PADDINGTON 4’.

A fine Friday night: caprese salad, tsiporou, and watching 52 Pick-Up, which has the wildest Bawlmore accent I’ve heard outside of a John Waters or David Simon joint
