Honestly like 90% of the time some authority figure in a story says “they’re a danger to us all!” they’re fully correct. The story wouldn’t happen otherwise, but if the main just fucked off to a cave somewhere, almost every other character would end up better off.

Been thinking about the systematic removal of opportunities for good work. Managers tell you everyone should be doing great work all the time, but it’s rare by definition, and if talented people can’t get paid every week for doing high-level work, they won’t be around to do the great work.

Finally understanding my mental health team’s suggestion that I have moral scrupulosity, a form of obsessive thoughts where you continually prove to yourself that you’re a good person, and in part it was hard to see because this is a base assumption of all the social media I use!!

The excitement people felt when indie/underground stuff started being referenced in mainstream pop culture was based on an equation of “I’m a good person, people like me like band X, so people who like band X are a good person.” Many have not yet accepted the ego-death that this is not true!!
