Obviously not helped by the fact he is in self imposed exile. But Holborn was George Galloway’s worst ever result in a Westminster election.
With Labour, first-time buyers will be able to buy a new-build home with a deposit of just 2.5%. The dream of owning your own home shouldn't belong only to those with help from the bank of Mum and Dad.
A succession of triggers around 1986-7: - The “Natural Born Smoker” ad where he looms over a baby - The Vervoids in Doctor Who (compounded by Bonnie Langford screaming) - The “cyber conversion” in Superman III - The life force on Knightmare running low and becoming a grinning skull
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?
passing the "zionism is racism" motion on the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street is a bit on the fucking nose isn't it
I would ask the Manchester Greens (including one of my ward colleagues) what their view is on this disgraceful motion. But as they tried to amend our Palestine motion at Full Council to remove all reference to a two-state solution, I think I already know the answer.
The "zionism is racism" motion that has just passed on the Green Party's conference floor is truly gross, and deeply racist. The party's MPs deserve some credit for opposing it, though they should've done so more stridently and sooner. This is now a millstone around the party's necks. Deservedly.
A reminder that today is the first anniversary of two Jewish men being murdered in an attack on Heaton Park synagogue.
When you've got senior members trying to find places to hide and are having to rule out physical violence from proponents... ...maybe a motion is slightly dodgy?
We’re stronger when we own things together. Our first Labour & Co-operative Prime Minister Andy Burnham writes for Metro on putting power back in people’s hands. Co-operative ownership gives workers, customers and communities a real stake and a real say.
Andy Burnham just gave one of the best Labour Leader’s speeches I’ve ever heard. Solid and incredibly welcome commitments on a new era of council housing, leasehold reform, support for first time buyers, and ending rough sleeping.
That was a superb speech from Burnham. What underpinned it all was how deeply personal it is for him. Above all, wanting to fix social care as a mission, to spare future generations the heartache so many others - him and his family included - have had to endure.
Statement from @bencooper1995.bsky.social following the Prime Minister’s announcement on plans to crack down on slum landlords.
Andy Burnham delivers a powerful and emotional tribute to his dad, who died 10 days ago: "The son of a man who failed his 11 Plus becoming PM... This United Kingdom my dad represented is the one I believe in.... A country that stood up to fascism. A country of solidarity, not separation"
Generations of Labour & Co-operative campaigners have worked to put our shared values into power. Today, for the first time ever, a Labour & Co-operative Prime Minister addresses Labour Party Conference. 🌹🐝
The clean energy transition works best when communities own it. From the Local Power Plan investing in community-owned energy, to billions for communities and local authorities to upgrade homes, Miatta Fahnbulleh is turning that co-operative principle into practice.
Tomorrow at @labouruk.bsky.social Conference, I will announce that we will nationalise Avanti West Coast train services at the first opportunity. We are building a railway Britain can rely on. www.thetimes.com/article/b68f...

It’s not a silver bullet but bringing more empty homes back into use can help solve the housing crisis. Today, we’re announcing strengthened powers for councils to take control of long-term empty homes and use them to house families in need.
Been a long meeting of Council today. We had six motions, on topics ranging from Palantir to Palestine, and from clean air to children’s services. Plus celebrating 100 years of votes for women, and warning of Reform chaos in local government.
A year on from the Heaton Park Synagogue attack, Jewish communities are still scared. It's unacceptable. We must be united against violence being inflicted on religious communities. Thank you to the authorities for ensuring no one was hurt. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater...
