Did my own little odyssey to see The Odyssey on one of the largest 1.43 IMAX screens in the US (83ft by 62ft - Branson Missouri)
watched the odyssey last night. film ruined by everyone speaking english instead of ancient greek.
So it seems like IDOT wants to move the Clybourn station. I shared at the meeting today that the current location is best. While having some constraints, it sits at the direct intersection of 2 cta bus lines (Ashland & Armitage).

The navy pier one gets talked about a lot, but there was also one in Lincolnshire that only closed in 2023. Had the same screen dimensions as navy pier too at 80x60. What a shame, would've been nice to have another 70mm IMAX option for the Odyssey.

Took Metra UP-N this evening from Clybourn to Evanston roundtrip. Tickets not checked in either direction. Anecdotally it seems like the conductors on the ex Union Pacific lines are worse with checking tickets than other lines?
highway-adjacent light rail is such a massive policy fail. you lose most walkablity to highway and places where air and noise pollution are awful. it's truck oriented development. climate arson.

Why Chicago zoning code requires 15ft of Front Setback is one of the dumbest things imo. Its wasted space nobody uses. At least cutting it in half would be a good place to start.

We build vehicles that weigh 9000 pounds with 1000HP, can go 0-60mph in 3 seconds and market them recklessly. We then ask people to wear construction vests to cross the street. This is all so beyond absurd and it's truly incredible that we've normalized this.
what is with the aversion to putting bollards on ped islands where people are supposed to be protected from cars? these things should either be actual safety infrastructure or we should acknowledge it's only there to make us feel safe and stop pretending the city cares about cars killing people
