B cell-derived type I interferon sustains T cell functionality upon strong TCR stimulation during chronic infection
Extrinsic factors that support CD8+ T cell responses during chronic viral infection are incompletely defined. Gago da Graça et al. identify a crucial role for B cells in triggering type I interferon production, thereby promoting T cell effector formation in response to high antigen exposure, as seen in chronic infection.

I’m excited to share our latest study, published today in @natimmunol.nature.com. It is long known that pregnancy reduces the risk of developing breast cancer, yet the biological mechanisms underlying this protection have remained largely unknown. Read the paper here: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Pregnancy-induced tissue-resident memory-like T cells contribute to tumor control in breast cancer - Nature Immunology
Here the authors identify an abundance of a tissue-resident memory-like T cell population in the breasts of women who have given birth. These cells can contribute to tumor control and may thereby prov...

Right now, the Government is starving medical research of full funding, even as it claims that science and research are national priorities. If our leaders truly value science as much as they say, then they must back their words with action—and fund it properly. Join the campaign!

Microbiota-derived butyrate promotes a FOXO1-induced stemness program and preserves CD8+ T cell immunity against melanoma
The gut microbiome impacts immunity at various levels, including response to immunotherapy. Bachem et al. find that metabolic pathways shared across different microbiota constituents, including SCFA synthesis, modulate stem-like tumor-specific CD127+CD8+ T cells in the tumor-draining lymph node and impact control of melanoma.
