We can't solve a housing crisis without building more housing. Today we broke ground on the Casanova Residence, which will soon be nearly 100 affordable and supportive homes with on-site services for New Yorkers. Every new home is a step toward a City that everyone can afford.
Yeah. Just talk to a teacher these days. They will tell you that squirrels now have basically ZERO reading comprehension. It's dire out there.
How’s that working for you?
Thanks to @scottwiener.bsky.social's landmark Senate Bill 35, this project skipped San Francisco’s famously Byzantine permit process and got approved in a matter of weeks, not years. Without SB 35, these 160 affordable homes would still be an abandoned McDonald’s tied up in NIMBY lawsuits.
Yesterday, we celebrated the grand opening of 730 Stanyan, a new affordable housing community with 160 homes for low- to moderate-income families, including families and transitional age youth who have experienced homelessness.

somewhat confused by the level of transphobia where you misgender someone but not deadname him
It is ahistorical and clearly forced. I have nothing against the actresses, Lupita Nyongo is not bad looking but she is not Helen of Troy, and as for Elliot Page it makes even less sense for her. A great make warrior is being played by the most comically tiny woman ever lol
wages increased across the board for service workers and people hate it but they figured out they can complain about it by just pretending it didn’t happen.
Ok I saw an article about this and it apparently happened exactly one time
I would be curious if there is even one (1) instance of a trans woman getting a scholarship to play college women’s sports?
yeah, like, leaving aside whether immigrants *should* assimilate, they basically do in like 1-2 generations without fail. This is true even when their parents actively don't want them to.
again, i really cannot emphasize enough, the united states has accepted an enormous number of immigrants over its history, and--this may come as a surprise to you--they integrated pretty successfully like there's just no there there
San Francisco’s BMR requirements are a great litmus test for whether people actually care about affordable housing because this change is actually a reversion of a change made 10 years ago. When they raised it from 5% to 15%, new BMR unit construction fell by 80%. But advocates still supported it
I don't get to say this often: the San Francisco Board of Supervisors just adopted a really great housing policy. The state legislature should follow their lead and completely exempt projects with fewer than 25 units from all "inclusionary zoning" requirements statewide.

J. Robert Oppenheimer and Army Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves contemplate the impact of the atomic bomb in New Mexico. Also, they have big naturals.
"Corridor zoning" amounts to jamming low-income residents into big, bland apartment buildings alongside stroads, where they can serve as a buffer, absorbing all the noise & air pollution cars produce, protecting the precious single-family homes that dominate everywhere around them. It's abominable.

Notably it’s not a normal thing for a Marine to get on leave because YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO RE-ENLIST IF YOU HAVE ONE. That’s why he worked for Blackwater after getting it, the marines wouldn’t take him.
The people who downplay the seriousness of the Nazi tattoo by claiming it's a normal thing for a Marine to get while on leave (it's not) are being extremely condescending to the actual working class people they claim to represent.

Since California's state budget is heavily dependent on income taxes, the amount of tax money coming in varies dramatically from year to year, even though needs are fairly constant. Prop 2 would expand the Rainy Day Fund, which allows the state to save money during good years for use later.
