How’s that working for you?

Thanks to @scottwiener.bsky.social's landmark Senate Bill 35, this project skipped San Francisco’s famously Byzantine permit process and got approved in a matter of weeks, not years. Without SB 35, these 160 affordable homes would still be an abandoned McDonald’s tied up in NIMBY lawsuits.

It is ahistorical and clearly forced. I have nothing against the actresses, Lupita Nyongo is not bad looking but she is not Helen of Troy, and as for Elliot Page it makes even less sense for her. A great make warrior is being played by the most comically tiny woman ever lol

again, i really cannot emphasize enough, the united states has accepted an enormous number of immigrants over its history, and--this may come as a surprise to you--they integrated pretty successfully like there's just no there there

San Francisco’s BMR requirements are a great litmus test for whether people actually care about affordable housing because this change is actually a reversion of a change made 10 years ago. When they raised it from 5% to 15%, new BMR unit construction fell by 80%. But advocates still supported it

I don't get to say this often: the San Francisco Board of Supervisors just adopted a really great housing policy. The state legislature should follow their lead and completely exempt projects with fewer than 25 units from all "inclusionary zoning" requirements statewide.

"Corridor zoning" amounts to jamming low-income residents into big, bland apartment buildings alongside stroads, where they can serve as a buffer, absorbing all the noise & air pollution cars produce, protecting the precious single-family homes that dominate everywhere around them.
