Yea I think this year has always had more analogs to 2006 or 2014, glad Cook is finally waking up

Pretty good take haver. Democracy enjoyer. Hater of authoritarianism & populism. Globalist. Reader of history. Proud Harry Truman Democrat.
In Woke 3 we are replacing all American History classes with Gender Studies
There are still people who think Harris lost because of Liz Cheney. The average swing voter in 2024 had no idea who Liz Cheney was nor that she led the J6 committee or what the J6 committee was or that we have a bicameral legislature.
So is there a definitive list of issues that progressive Democrat candidates support that moderate, centrist, Establishment Democrats don’t? Are the moderates really against universal healthcare? Is it all just about Israel? What?
I couldn't bring myself to back Abdul El-Sayed or Haley Stevens in the #MISen primary (I'm still living in an alternate Mallory McMorrow reality). But whoever does win tomorrow will be our nominee, and we need to coalesce around them. Eyes on the prize, and the ONLY prize is control of the Senate.
Honest question - why are we fighting for the working class? Lots of people in the world / America who could use help / protection / support. What makes the working class deserving of special treatment or focus? No I’m being serious. Why did we decide they’re the be all end all of politics?
My 80s punk Pandora station somehow figured out I like Jack Johnson.
Barack Obama told white peoples school segregation wasn’t their fault and won Ohio twice.
I personally know voters like this! I have talked to many voters like this while knocking doors. They are absolutely winnable without a single policy concession as long as you make mouth noises that gesture at them being decent people.
I think the political problem at this moment is people who cannot separate those two. Who can’t see something as being effective even if it’s wrong or they personally oppose it. It’s a milestone in maturity and development. Recognizing that bad things can succeed and bad people also vote.
Something I think that underlies a lot of debates within the Democratic party and center-left right now is whether or not you think Trumpism has been successful as a political and ideological project. (Not, obviously, whether it's been good or not).
A lot of ink spilled about how if Hong and AES lose, leftists need to learn and do self reflection. Here’s a spoiler: they’re emotionally driven man-children and won’t. The question is - will Democratic leadership learn. They ignored voter anger and left a wide open lane for insurgents.
GEM’s model matches my totally unscientific vibes. I think people are freaking out over MI more than it needs. Things can change but barring anything truly crazy happening, I feel fairly confident in a blue Michigan.
Right now, yes
I don’t know what the solution is - but we need to address quality of life crimes. I don’t think we should involuntarily commit everyone nor send people to jail for loitering and non-crimes. But the solution of - do nothing - that we seem to have arrived on as a society is also not good.
The problem with the New York Democratic Party is they are like lions who have forgotten how to hunt becuse they’ve been free of predators for too long. Their only priority is being power brokers and protecting their turf. The two most important Senate Dems being from New York is a disaster.

The issue may have less to do with being alone and more to do with how men are taught to name, handle, and share emotions.

Every single one of these fucks could have voted to convict him and they’d still have their seats and Trump would be in the dustbin of history but their cravenness and cowardice doomed them.

Sorry everyone I’m occupied with my Tony Evers Ball Knower Apology Form.
I don’t want to be factionalism, but the fact that we’re going to win the seat comfortably while leftists are putting Michigan, and Maine in jeopardy is disturbing. Thank God Troy Jackson is in the race now at least.

And guess what. The “supposed liberals” won. And the answer is we won’t vote for Nazi rapists. Finally excited for the Maine Senate race and Troy Jackson!
There’s precedent for supposed liberals choosing Republicans over progressive Democrats.
Speaking of members of Congress who deserve credit, how about our very own Rep. Jake Auchincloss, who called for Graham Platner to drop out almost immediately after the candidate's Nazi tattoo was revealed?
The thing I like about Troy Jackson is that his campaign is about how Susan Collins is bad because she’s a Republican and not about how Democrats are bad. Real improvement over Platner.
Bernie sanders is an egotistical narcissist and is fundamentally incapable of ever admitting regret. Guarantee you some part of him still thinks Platner should continue to run. And much of this is age - 80 year olds don’t have the same understanding of civil & women’s rights and need to retire.
BRENNAN: You were an early supporter of Graham Platner. Do you regret not acting earlier for him to drop out given the warning signs? BERNIE SANDERS: No, I don't think so
Would love to see how these results--which test voters' *perceptions* of whether they could provide proof of citizenship--line up with how easily various subsets of voters *actually could* produce proof of citizenship. In particular ... (1/2)
New poll from Strength In Numbers and Verasight this morning: Black voters and Democrats are systematically more likely to say they couldn’t process citizenship. These are **currently registered voters** — and so presumably citizens being disenfranchised.
My guess is it’s because MAGA meatheads are morons who think they can vote with their drivers license or are much more self assured than they actually are. I could be wrong. But I don’t actually think black voters don’t know where their birth certificates are.

The thing about that Fox News poll is it was in the field before the war hit full swing again and gas prices rose…
Insane that Schumer didn’t endorse this guy from the start. Feeling ever so optimistic about this race!
Susan Collins lied to Mainers. She helped destroy Roe v. Wade, she advanced Trump's $990 billion Medicaid cuts, and she gave ICE $70 billion continue its rogue terror campaign. Together, we will replace her with a Senator who gives a damn about the working people of this country.
First poll of Maine post Plantner and Jackson is at 49 and leading by 3 LFG!!!!!
